About the Position

We are looking for an experienced school counselor to work with students in grades 4-9. The position primarily involves working with children and adolescents, as well as collaborating with guardians, school staff, and authorities.

You will be part of the school's student health team and safety team.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Individual and group counseling with students, class work
  • Social investigation/mapping and treatment work
  • Documentation of work with individual students in Prorenata
  • Collaboration with parents
  • Network meetings
  • Guidance and support for school staff
  • Conflict resolution
  • Developing the school's working environment for students in collaboration with EHT
  • Cooperation with authorities such as social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, habilitation, leisure, and police
  • Addressing problematic school absenteeism

The school counselor should facilitate students' learning and promote their social development. You are accustomed to working independently and being professional in your interactions with students, guardians, and school staff.

The role of the school counselor requires the ability to manage multiple perspectives in both direct student work and preventive efforts. It is a job that necessitates a repertoire of working methods and a strong understanding of children and adolescents, their development, and their situation in society. The role requires knowledge of behavioral and social sciences, social legislation, and social treatment work. Knowledge of the legislation governing school operations and confidentiality laws is also important.

The position includes work with problematic school absenteeism, focusing on both preventive and corrective measures. You will work alongside the school's nurse, who serves as the school's attendance coordinator, to ensure that our routines are effective. You will support teachers in addressing individual students' absenteeism and assist educators in implementing measures to address problematic school absenteeism. Documentation of absenteeism follow-ups and reporting to BER (Child and Student Register) is also part of the role.

We place great emphasis on good communication and documentation skills. In consultation with the principal, you will be responsible for the school's action plans, such as the Plan Against Discrimination and Harassment, as well as formulating and following up on systematic quality work focused on safety and well-being.

Qualifications

You have a degree in Social Work or another equivalent qualification, and experience is required.

As a person, you are flexible, self-driven, resilient, and have experience working in schools with children of various ages.

With us, you will work alongside driven and engaged colleagues who, together with the students, find new ways to learn and understand their environment, where digitalization is a natural part of the learning process.
