Summer Supervisor for Park and Green Space Maintenance in Järva

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Welcome to us

During the summer of 2026, a large number of young people from the district will be offered summer jobs within the district's own management of parks and green areas.

For many, this will be their first work experience, and as a summer supervisor, you will be an important role model and support for them.

We are now looking for 14 engaged summer supervisors for assignments in park and green space maintenance in Järva, of which two will also participate in a special assignment focusing on biodiversity. Regardless of the assignment, as a summer supervisor, you will contribute to a meaningful and active summer for young people, where together you contribute to the long-term sustainable circular work to create a safe, pleasant, and green environment for the residents of Järva. Do you want to help supervise summer youth while contributing to providing Järva's residents with a well-maintained district? Welcome with your application!

We offer

A meaningful summer job where you get to lead and inspire young people, develop your leadership skills, and work in an engaging environment. You will receive a solid introduction, valuable experience in supervising groups, and the opportunity to contribute to an active and pleasant summer for both you and the summer youth.

Your role

As a summer supervisor, you play a central role in supporting and guiding summer youth in their work. This includes participating practically in the outdoor work together with the youth. You plan the workday, distribute tasks, instruct, guide, and motivate the youth. You and your supervising colleagues work closely together in a team to ensure that the work is carried out effectively and in a positive spirit.

Since the work is outdoors, it is important that you enjoy working in all weather conditions.

The work as a summer supervisor will last throughout the summer. The employment begins with a mandatory introductory week in week 24, where the summer supervisors will receive an overview of the assignment, tips, and advice to take with them during the employment period, as well as the opportunity to get to know each other.

Park Assignment Järva

The Järva district administration is responsible for the maintenance and care of several parks and green areas in Järva. As a summer supervisor within the park assignment, you will guide the youth in their work to keep our parks and green areas clean and beautiful while also gaining knowledge about and tasks related to the environment and climate. Your tasks include, among other things, litter picking, weeding, mowing, painting park furniture, and efforts to preserve and strengthen nature's biodiversity. We are looking for supervisors who can work throughout the entire period from June 8 to August 21, i.e., week 24 to 34.

Biodiversity Assignment

During the summer period, a group of about 12 young people will work on initiatives related to biodiversity for three weeks. The first week will be a learning week, where the youth will learn about biodiversity together with biologists. The second week, you will together with the youth inventory the district (partly by bike) and work further on ideas on how to increase biodiversity on site. The third and final week will involve implementing initiatives based on the youth's ideas in consultation with summer supervisors and biologists. After the period ends, you and a supervising colleague will conduct a follow-up of the assignment.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • completed high school education
  • experience working with and supervising youth groups
  • good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • knowledge and experience in gardening/park work
  • knowledge of and/or interest in biodiversity and green issues
  • for the biodiversity assignment, it is an advantage to be able to ride a bike.

We are looking for someone who finds it easy to collaborate with others and is driven to create a cohesive team. At the same time, you are action-oriented, solution-focused, and can adapt to new situations. You are good at structuring and planning your and the group's work and enjoy order and tidiness. You are pedagogical and can easily adapt your way of communicating to reach out to the youth. You are an engaged supervisor who is good at motivating, guiding, and has the ability to bring out the best in each individual.

We highly value your personal qualities and place great importance on your motivation and commitment to the position.
