Deputy Material Area Manager (Deputy MOA)

Would you feel proud to play a crucial role in strengthening Sweden's defense? Are you interested in collaborating with competent and dedicated colleagues to ensure the development of the Armed Forces' sensor systems? Are you motivated by change work? Then the position of Deputy Material Area Manager (Deputy MOA) with us might be something for you!

FMTIS Technical and Maintenance Office Command Systems (TVK Ledsyst) in Enköping and Stockholm consists of approximately 190 employees across seven departments. The unit's main task is the procurement and management of the Armed Forces' command and information systems throughout their lifecycle, from development to decommissioning, during war, crisis, and peace. The Armed Forces and the unit are experiencing strong growth, leading us to face new challenges and assignments.

Main Responsibilities

The command support systems are divided into material areas (MO), where sensors are one of them. As a Deputy MOA, you support the MOA and have overall responsibility for certain systems within the material area. This responsibility also includes ensuring technical capability beyond current technical systems and coordinating the procurement of new/lifetime-extended systems with the management of existing systems.

Your tasks include ordering and budgeting development, procurement, and management assignments towards the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) with the support of the sensor area's MO team.

You lead and participate in meetings with FMV and the industry, as well as with the Defence Staff, branches of the armed forces, FMTIS, other authorities, and relevant ministries. You regularly collaborate with the War Unit Manager to plan and ensure the war organization's need for well-functioning systems and material supply at all conflict levels, both in the short and long term. Directions for development, procurement, and trade-offs are provided to you by the Defence Staff's Cyber Unit.

You are part of TVK Ledsyst and belong to the Market Systems Department's Sensor Section together with the Section Manager and other staff.

As a Deputy MOA, you will:

  • Annually conduct defense planning and budgeting for the entire material area
  • Prepare and compile materials for Decision on Use (BOA)
  • Develop “MOA function's reporting of the system's capability”
  • Prepare decisions on partial decommissioning or decommissioning
  • Participate in system coordination between different technical systems in various material areas and combat forces
  • Handle/participate in the preparation of export control matters
  • Participate in the development of systems within the material area
  • Participate in the creation of governing documents for new and modified systems
  • Work in national and international cooperation forums

  • Good ability to communicate in spoken and written Swedish and English
  • Experience in coordination in leading positions, e.g., project management, line manager, or process leader
  • Good knowledge of requirements specification for technical systems

Personal Qualities

The position places high demands on collaboration skills but also a good ability to work independently. You should be decisive and not afraid to make decisions. Many tasks require rapid preparation, which demands flexibility and the ability to achieve and accept sufficiently good quality within given time frames.

You are loyal to the Armed Forces' values, ethical guidelines, and mission. You can independently prioritize, plan, and organize your work.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
