Prosecutor's Authority is Hiring a Court Assessor

The Prosecutor's Authority is seeking a court assessor for a two-year merit position as an additional prosecutor at the authority's development center in Gothenburg.

Your Responsibilities

The Development Center is a consolidated function for legal supervision in criminal matters, legal development, and method development. The Development Center has workplaces in Gothenburg, Malmö, and Stockholm. At each workplace, there are chief prosecutors and deputy chief prosecutors responsible for legal supervision at the authority's other legal level. The Development Center has a mission to function as a knowledge center and to meet the operational needs for legal information and support.

As an expert body within the Prosecutor's Authority, the Development Center is largely responsible for contributing to the creation of new legislation, not least by handling legislative referrals and by conveying operationally adapted information about new legislation to prosecutors. The pace of legislation is currently high, and we now need to strengthen our ability to fulfill these tasks. Other tasks may also arise, such as developing governing documents and being involved in cases handled by the Supreme Court.

Primarily, work within the Development Center is divided between workplaces based on different subject areas. However, within a cohesive Development Center, tasks can be distributed more freely based on the needs of the operation and the interests and knowledge of the employees. The Development Center in Gothenburg primarily focuses on issues related to crimes in intimate relationships, crimes against children, sexual offenses, and related issues such as honor-related violence and oppression, as well as serious violent crimes and forensic issues.

The work is conducted under the leadership of the chief prosecutor who is in charge of the relevant workplace and together with other senior prosecutors, chamber prosecutors, and case handlers. Legislative referrals are often decided after presentation to the Attorney General or Deputy Attorney General.

Your Qualities and Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Swedish citizenship
• Nordic law degree
• Notary qualification from district or administrative court
• Upon appointment as an additional prosecutor, you must be a fully qualified court assessor.

Experience in Swedish and European legislative work is advantageous, as well as knowledge in the subject areas for which the relevant workplace is responsible.

About the Employment

The position as an additional prosecutor is a merit position for two years.

To obtain the assignment, it is a requirement that the applicant holds a permanent position at the Economic Crime Authority or within Sweden's courts.

Before an employment offer, the Prosecutor's Authority may conduct a background check in the suspect register and criminal record. The background check is conducted on the final candidate.
