About Chalmers
The finance function at Chalmers is characterized by professional management of Chalmers' financial governance and administration. The function is represented both in the operational work at Chalmers' 12 departments and in the university-wide management with its support organizations.
This position is at the Department of Life Sciences, which conducts leading research in biotechnology to improve human health and enable a bio-based society in the future. The department has five divisions with over 200 employees. It is an institution that is growing and developing. To maintain efficiency and quality within the finance function, the organization is strengthened with a finance assistant during the period February 1, 2026 – January 31, 2027. This is to enable a sustainable workflow and provide Chalmers with the capacity to handle peak workloads while new routines are developed and financial processes are quality assured.
The position is located in the operations support department, where 11 people focus on providing qualified support in administration, finance, and communication. The finance function consists of a controller, three economists, and a finance assistant.

About the role
As a senior finance assistant, you will have an important function in the finance team and contribute to effective accounting and financial management. The role includes, among other things:
- Ensuring accurate accounting according to internal and external regulations
- Financial project reporting to funders
- Interpreting terms from funders and other contractual parties
- Working with bookkeeping, accounting, and financial planning
- Working in financial systems, such as Unit 4 ERP, Raindance, or Hypergene
- Cost coding
- Participating in year-end closing work
To thrive and succeed in the role, you are analytical, structured, and able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. You are unpretentious, resilient under stress, and enjoy collaborating closely with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
We are looking for someone who
- Has experience in financial work, similar to the tasks described in the points below:
- Has experience in accounting, budgeting, and year-end closing work
- Has a university degree in finance or equivalent education and at least three (3) years of work experience in similar roles. Alternatively, high school or equivalent education and five (5) years of work experience as a finance assistant
- Has good knowledge of MS Office or equivalent tools
- Has good knowledge of financial systems (e.g., Unit 4 ERP, Raindance, Hypergene, Visma, etc.)
- Can communicate fluently in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing
Meritorious:
- Experience in financial work within research activities at universities or similar research organizations
- Experience working with support systems Raindance and Hypergene
- Experience in project accounting

This is a consultancy assignment with employment at OIO during the period February 1, 2026 – January 31, 2027.
