About us

The finance function at Chalmers is characterized by a professional management of our financial control and financial administration. The function is represented both in the operational work at our 13 subject institutions and in the university-wide management with its support organizations.

This position is at the Department of Life Sciences but may lead to a placement in other parts of the organization as well. The Department of Life Sciences conducts outstanding research in biotechnology to improve people's health and enable a bio-based society in the future. The department has five divisions with a total of about 200 employees, and you will work in an international and multicultural work environment where 38 different nationalities are represented.

The position is located in the operational support department where 11 people focus on providing qualified support in administration, finance, and communication. The finance function consists of a controller, three economists, and a finance assistant.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in qualified financial work, similar to the tasks described in the advertisement
  • Has experience in accounting, budgeting, and year-end work
  • Has experience working with financial and administrative support systems
  • Has a good ability to express themselves verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

It is meritorious if you also have:

  • Documented experience of being responsible for the entire financial process.
  • Experience in project accounting
  • Experience in qualified financial work within higher education/university
  • Experience in EU accounting
  • Experience working with the support systems Raindance and Hypergene

What the role entails

Main tasks include:

  • Advising managers and project leaders on financial matters
  • Ensuring good accounting in accordance with internal and external regulations
  • Budgeting, follow-up, forecasting, and analysis of projects and operations
  • Financial project reporting to funders
  • Participating in the department's budget and year-end work
  • Interpreting conditions from funders and other contractual parties
