Job Advertisement: Researcher in Energy Communities

The Department of Civil Engineering and Industrial Technology consists of three divisions: Civil Engineering and Built Environment, Industrial Engineering, and Quality Engineering.

The department has approximately 100 employees and conducts its research and education both at the Ångström Laboratory in Uppsala and at Campus Gotland. This position will be located at the Division of Civil Engineering and Built Environment in Uppsala.

The Division of Civil Engineering and Built Environment conducts research and education in the field of civil engineering and other construction sciences with a focus on energy in buildings and built environments. We offer courses in building physics, building design, energy efficiency in buildings, energy systems for buildings, and infrastructure systems. About 20 people work with us, and we have several successful collaborations with industry and organizations. Job Responsibilities

The advertised position is within a larger research initiative on the introduction of energy communities in Sweden. The research will focus on the opportunities and risks associated with the implementation of energy communities in the context of the Swedish energy system. The research is partly technical and partly interdisciplinary, thus including researchers from various disciplines (including engineers, political scientists, and lawyers). Additionally, some subprojects in the research are closely linked to industry and include representatives from energy companies, the real estate sector, and the logistics industry. The research includes energy system modeling, case studies, stakeholder studies, and organizational studies. Teaching in energy system courses may be included in the position.

Qualifications

PhD in energy systems or equivalent, preferably with a focus on local heating and electricity supply as well as energy efficiency in buildings. Other requirements include experience in mathematical calculations and simulations and good programming skills, e.g., in Python.

Desirable/meritorious

Experience as a postdoctoral researcher in a related field is meritorious.

About the Position

The position is temporary for one year. The extent is full-time. Start date as soon as possible/by agreement. Location: Uppsala
