Your tasks

We are now looking for a full-time mentor for a fixed-term employment until summer. The purpose of the assignment as a full-time mentor is to relieve teaching staff of tasks related to mentoring students. This means:

• Participate in student welfare work
• Make parent contacts
• Plan and participate in mentoring time, development talks, parent meetings, etc.
• Encourage and coach students as well as work with motivational efforts, goal images, and future planning
• Follow up on students' attendance/absence and work with remedial actions
• Help students with study planning and study techniques

You will also work with the implementation of routines and action plans, rules of order, and values, as well as plan and carry out social activities.

This position is primarily aimed at the Natural Science Program and the Humanities Program. The teachers at the school work in program teams around the students, and the school has a total of four full-time mentors linked to different programs. There are also other competencies linked to the students, such as special educators, counselors, study and career advisors, psychologists, and school nurses, with whom you as a full-time mentor will collaborate in the Student Health Team (EHT).

Additionally, there is the IB - International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The school has an international profile through well-established foreign contacts, including student exchanges with other countries, solid language instruction, and various collaborative projects between languages and other subjects.

Who you are

We are primarily looking for someone with a pedagogical, social, or behavioral science education at the post-secondary level. It is desirable that you have previous experience working with high school-age youth and knowledge of laws and regulations related to high school. To create a holistic view of the student, considering both the student's academic situation and social aspects, experience in student health work is meritorious. In addition, we view knowledge of various conversation methods positively.

You will work with documentation regarding students. Good computer skills and the ability to handle digital tools are necessary.

As a person, you are outgoing and enjoy creating professional relationships while being able to distinguish between personal and professional matters. You have good collaboration skills, relating smoothly to and addressing the individual needs for support of students and colleagues. By inspiring and motivating others, you create participation and engagement. Furthermore, you find it easy to communicate clearly and ensure that your message gets across.
