Cultural Administration is looking for a Unit Manager for the Economic Unit

The Cultural Administration works for a broad art and cultural life for everyone to participate in. We strive for a sustainable and open city that places culture and art at its center.

The Cultural Administration has approximately 800 employees who mainly work within libraries, cultural centers, museums, and other cultural activities.

About the workplace

Do you want to lead and develop an economic unit that plays an important role in the administration's governance, development, and long-term goals? We are looking for an experienced and committed leader who wants to contribute to the administration's financial work.

The Cultural Administration is currently undergoing a development journey following a reorganization. As part of this change, the new department for economics, planning, and analysis was established on September 1. The department includes the units for economics, staff, and IT, as well as a management controller.

The Economic Unit consists of 17 employees with roles such as administrator, finance assistant, economist, and accounting and purchasing coordinator. The unit is part of the new department responsible for leading and coordinating the administration's overall governance, follow-up, and financial management. As a unit manager, you will be part of the department's management team and contribute to ensuring that the department's and administration's goals are achieved.

Job Responsibilities

As a unit manager, you have result responsibility for the unit's operations, finances, and employees. Together, the unit works to follow the city's guidelines and ensure legally secure processes while creating good conditions for the administration's managers. By ensuring processes, reliable decision-making bases, and structured follow-up, the unit creates conditions for managers to make well-founded decisions within their areas of responsibility. This is done in close collaboration with the administration's other support functions.

As a manager, you work based on the administration's managerial role as a leader, operational representative, and employer, ensuring a good and safe work environment as well as a sustainable work life for your employees. You organize, lead, and distribute the ongoing work in the unit with the support of the unit's accounting and purchasing coordinator.

An important part of your mission is to drive and develop the unit's cross-administrative assignments and ensure equitable and qualitative support for the administration's operations. By establishing structure and clarity in the work, you contribute to a communicative and well-functioning organization.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in economics or another academic degree that the employer assesses as equivalent. You have experience as a leader or manager with good results in finance, operational management, and personnel responsibility. Furthermore, you have experience in systematic work environment management as well as work with goals, follow-up, and analysis. If you have any leadership training, it is a merit.

You have experience in change management and in driving and implementing new working methods. You have at least 3 years of experience in qualified financial work within public operations and a broad understanding of the processes involved in the economic unit's responsibilities.

As a person, you are communicative and socially secure, which allows you to convey information and ideas clearly and effectively. You are attentive to others' needs and opinions and show respect in your interactions. You are goal- and result-oriented and demonstrate analytical ability by seeing connections and drawing logical conclusions. As a manager, you have a holistic view by seeing your area of responsibility in its larger context and create added value through collaboration.

With us, you will have the opportunity to be part of a dynamic administration where you can influence and develop the operations. You will be part of an organization characterized by commitment, creativity, and diversity, with good opportunities for personal and professional development. Together, we work to make Gothenburg an attractive cultural city for everyone.
