At the Swedish Migration Agency, we are working on one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!
Do you want to be part of leading a socially important operation that makes a difference every day? We are now looking for an engaged and present manager for the Permit Assessment Section in Region West, Gothenburg.

Your workplace
The section currently consists of seven units located in Gothenburg and Örebro. The section is responsible for permit assessments as well as the overall approach to service issues in the region. Your mission
As section manager, you play a central role in leading and developing an operation in constant change, in accordance with the Swedish Migration Agency's operational plan and strategies. You are responsible for creating an efficient and sustainable organization and ensuring that the units within the section achieve set goals, with a good working environment.
You ensure continuous operational development within the section and the region. The work takes place in very close collaboration with other regions and departments.
You are responsible for leading the section's management team where you work closely with unit managers and seek their support in your work as you lead and develop the section. You ensure that there are conditions for participation, collaboration, and for the goals to be implemented, realized, and followed up.
You have overall responsibility for personnel, budget, and working environment, report to the regional director, and are part of the region's management team.

As a manager and leader at the Swedish Migration Agency, you see the big picture, create conditions, and act consciously in your leadership. You strive to be a present and empathetic leader who creates a safe and open working environment and an efficient operation.
You lead with courage and clarity, which means you do not hesitate to make decisions even in changing times. You ensure that everyone understands why decisions are made and what they mean for them and the organization as a whole. You have the ability to work strategically and analytically, with a clear overall perspective and good communication skills. Your collaborative ability enables you to create results through cooperation and development.
In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on good judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.
We are looking for someone who has:
- an academic education of at least 120 higher education credits in a relevant field
- current managerial experience with responsibility for operations, personnel, working environment, and budget
- experience leading through other managers and/or working at a strategic level with cross-agency assignments
- experience leading and developing operations in change with good results
- very good ability to communicate fluently in both spoken and written Swedish and English.
It is advantageous if you have:
- good knowledge of the Swedish Migration Agency's mission, operations, and governance model
- good insight into the state budget process
