Description

The Urban Environment Administration has a comprehensive responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility.

We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work in the administration.

The Urban Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg City. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.

Responsibilities

The role of unit manager involves being part of the management team for the Green Maintenance operation. In this position, you work to weave culture and structure together, creating a good working environment for staff with warmth and a professional atmosphere. Leadership should be exercised to build trust and confidence both internally and in relation to residents, visitors, businesses, and other external parties. Gothenburg City is a large organization that is evolving, which requires an awareness of complexity and close collaboration with other administrations and companies in the city. It is particularly important to develop and promote working methods that support a city-wide perspective.

Through a development-oriented leadership style, you will be responsible for and lead the green maintenance unit with your employees. You have primary responsibility for the assignments in your unit from start to handover, which means responsibility for planning and execution regarding quality, time, and budget. The role involves many points of contact with different stakeholders such as clients and customers. Your work is characterized by a clear customer focus, and you are expected to plan your unit's operations to ensure that there is coverage and assignments both in the short and long term. You will work for a clear and cohesive green maintenance approach in the city. This is done by representing the operation in various working groups within the city's different projects where you, with overall responsibility for your geographical area, collaborate closely and carefully with your colleagues and other actors in the city.

As a unit manager, you have personnel, work environment, and environmental responsibility for the unit's employees and projects. This means that you continuously follow up on the operations to ensure that the administration's processes and routines as well as current legislation are followed.

You drive the operations within established financial frameworks and towards set goals, as well as being responsible for monitoring the external environment within the area and translating this into working methods in the administration. This position includes being on call.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who, with commitment, wants to drive the unit, and to succeed in this role, you have a strong interest in democracy and societal issues. You have a university degree in the green sector or vocational training in leadership within the green industry. For this position, we prefer that you have knowledge of biodiversity, particularly regarding the significance and conditions of meadows and invasive plants in outdoor environments. A B driver's license (manual) is required.

We want you to have experience in personnel, work environment, and budget responsibilities, as well as in cultural and value-based work. Your leadership is characterized by good communication skills, social competence, and an unpretentious approach. Other important abilities include being able to weigh different perspectives where the whole becomes as good as possible and being able to think and act long-term.

You are skilled in your communication style and have the ability to create trusting relationships and build networks. You have the courage to think outside the box while being receptive to how you best implement the issues you drive. We also want you to be aware of the external environment and take initiatives based on the needs you identify. We also expect you to have good experience in collaborating with trade unions.

Conditions

With us, you will work in an administration focused on development, collaboration, and diversity. We offer, among other things, wellness benefits and cycling perks - so you can combine an exciting job with a sustainable private life.

As an employer, we have an obligation to ensure that you have the right to reside and work in Sweden. Therefore, at a physical interview, you will need to show your passport or national ID card. Selection and interviews are ongoing, so do not wait to apply! Sales calls are not welcome.
