Read more and apply below.

About the Workplace

In Mölndal municipality, we take pride in having Sweden's most important jobs where we make a difference in people's everyday lives every day. With knowledge, courage, and creativity, we develop our operations and contribute to making Mölndal an even better place to live and work.

The City Service Administration is responsible for delivering, coordinating, and developing services for residents and administrations in Mölndal municipality. With over 550 dedicated employees, we are organized into four operational areas: meals and local cleaning, water and recycling, city maintenance, and support and customer service.

The Water and Recycling operational area works for a sustainable future by ensuring clean water, promoting reuse, and reducing waste. We create conditions for circular flows in society, where resources are reused as much as possible.

Job Responsibilities

As an operations manager, you have overall responsibility for Mölndal municipality's work with water services, recycling, reuse, and waste minimization. With the support of six unit managers, you lead over 100 employees in an operation that includes, among other things, water distribution and production, the operation of recycling centers, property-related collection, and waste collection from businesses. The operation is critical to society, which means you have a responsibility for robustness, continuity, and preparedness in the delivery of water and waste services.

You are responsible for planning, leading, and developing the operation, both operationally and strategically. Your assignment includes initiating and driving improvement work in a new organization where working methods and processes, including those related to investments and infrastructure, are under development. An example of an exciting project that the operation is involved in is the new railway to Borås, which is under construction.

You follow up on goals, budgets, and results and prepare decision-making materials for the technical committee, for example, before decisions on water and waste fees. You also coordinate and develop collaborations both internally and externally, for example, with regional actors and authorities.

In the internal work, there is currently a particular focus on strengthening workplace culture. Here, you have an important and central role in contributing to creating participation, engagement, and a positive work environment.

You report to the head of administration and are part of the administration's management team, where you actively contribute to the overall and the administration's common development.

Qualifications

We are looking for a stable and experienced leader with a strong commitment to developing the city's water and waste management towards a more sustainable future. You have a relevant university degree, for example, in engineering, environmental science, or urban planning. Experience from technically complex and regulated operations, such as water, waste, energy, or other critical infrastructure, is an advantage. It is also an advantage if you have experience from both the public and private sectors.

You have extensive experience leading through other managers with a coaching and trust-based approach that creates engagement, clarity, and development. You are used to working both strategically and operationally and have documented experience with budget and result responsibility. You have good economic understanding and the ability to navigate in a politically governed organization.

You also have experience in driving cultural and change work and have good knowledge of occupational health and safety issues and actively work for a safe and sustainable work environment.

As a person, you are solution-oriented, structured, and have the courage to make decisions. You have good communication skills and enjoy creating collaboration and consensus. You contribute to the whole and work for the city's common good across operational boundaries.

The position may involve working with classified information and requires security clearance and background checks.
