The Coast Guard is a civil state preparedness authority responsible for maritime surveillance and rescue services at sea on behalf of the government and parliament. With our maritime capability, the Coast Guard is also an important authority in Sweden's total defense. An important part of the maritime surveillance mission is to ensure safety in Sweden's maritime zones. This is done, among other things, through crime prevention, monitoring, and maintaining order. The Coast Guard's rescue service mission includes a wide range of different rescue operations, including environmental rescue efforts in the event of accidents or spills and rescue operations in case of shipwrecks or emergencies.

Description
The Coast Guard is seeking a temporary legal advisor to the legal unit located in Karlskrona, Malmö, or Gothenburg.
As a legal advisor, your main responsibilities will be to work with other lawyers to provide internal legal advice primarily concerning the Coast Guard's responsibilities for rescue services at sea and maritime surveillance.
Maritime surveillance includes coordination and dissemination of maritime information, control and supervisory activities within customs and border control, police monitoring, and maintaining order, as well as crime prevention activities. The advice also covers issues related to civil protection and total defense, public access and confidentiality, administrative law, labor law, contract law, procurement, personal data processing and data protection, as well as information security, operational protection, and maritime safety.
Your tasks will also include monitoring national, EU, and international legal developments within the authority's area, developing and revising the authority's guiding documents, and conducting legal quality reviews of decisions and other documents prepared within the authority.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- law degree / legal exam.
- several years of experience in qualified legal work.
- very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
It is advantageous if you also have:
- experience and competence in legal work related to data protection, administrative law, information exchange, or public access and confidentiality.
- several years of experience in work within the Coast Guard's operational area, the judiciary, or another government authority.
- practical experience with privacy by design and default and risk and impact assessments based on data protection regulations.
- experience in information exchange.
- worked in accordance with GDPR and crime data legislation.
To succeed in this role, you need to approach your tasks with a solution-focused and flexible mindset. You have a good ability to quickly switch between different tasks. You are outgoing and thrive in social settings, have good collaboration skills, and can adapt your communication style to the situation and person. At the same time, you are independent, self-driven, and highly engaged in your work tasks. You are structured with good analytical and administrative skills.

Conditions
The position is a fixed-term employment in the form of a temporary position for one year. Start date is as agreed.
Business travel is included in the employment, both domestically and internationally.
For employment, Swedish citizenship, a drug test, and a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act are required. Tests may be conducted during the recruitment process and used in the selection.
The Coast Guard participates in foreign missions and international efforts. Therefore, the employment includes an obligation to serve abroad when required for the operation.
