Support Assistant for LSS Residence in Östersund
Are you a support assistant or caregiver who wants to work in a constantly developing LSS residence in central Östersund? Do you want to work with sign language and accompany citizens to various activities?
We are now looking for a support assistant for one of our LSS residences in central Östersund. In this LSS residence, citizens of varying ages with different support and assistance needs live. You will belong to a team consisting of seven support assistants and support personnel. Together, we work for continuous development and new working methods to meet the residents' individual and changing needs, with the goal of providing the highest possible quality of life. An example of this is that all new colleagues are trained in sign language.
You will work closely with a nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and support pedagogue. Traveling and participating in activities with our citizens is common. For example, we often go swimming in the summer and visit the market in Åre in the fall. A driver's license is an advantage but not a requirement.
The organization has a laundry schedule, which means you can influence your own schedule. Working hours are currently scheduled for day/evening/weekend and night. Weekdays: earliest 07:30 and latest 21:00. Night, weekdays: 13:00-09:00. Weekends: 08:30 at the earliest and ends at 20:30 at the latest. Night, weekend: 13:30-09:30.
Working hours may change based on the needs of the organization.
The position encompasses 90% with the possibility of working up to 100%. The extension can occur within other parts of the Disability Sector, giving you a chance for variation, new experiences, and a broader network. We are committed to creating a flexible work environment where your wishes and the organization's goals meet. Start date is according to agreement.
Your New Job
As a support assistant, you will provide support to citizens based on individual needs and conditions. You help citizens manage their daily lives and all the challenges that may arise, both inside and outside the home. Your job is to create good conditions for as independent a life as possible for the citizen.
Your tasks include providing support in daily activities such as household chores, shopping, cooking, and leisure activities. You also perform care work such as assisting with personal hygiene, showering, and tooth brushing. You motivate and encourage participation, self-determination, and social interaction. You also work to create structure in daily life and provide pedagogical support based on low-arousal responses and clear pedagogical methods.
Common Tasks
- Support citizens during meal situations
- Assist citizens with daily chores such as maintaining the home, cleaning, and laundry
- Support citizens during periods of poorer well-being and contribute to security and stability in daily life
- Participate in various activities with citizens
- Accompany and provide support to citizens during contacts with, for example, healthcare providers, authorities, and other community actors
- Perform delegated health and medical tasks according to HSL, such as medication management

Your Qualifications
Requirements
- Trained support assistant or caregiver
- Good computer skills
- Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form
Desirable
- Experience working in care
- Experience in psychiatry and/or knowledge of psychiatry.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Experience working with sign language and/or knowledge of sign language. Knowledge of tactile sign language is particularly advantageous
- Experience working with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC)
- Driver's license B

You come up with ideas and new approaches to work-related issues. You are secure, stable, and have self-awareness, as well as the ability to distinguish between the private, personal, and professional.
Finally, independent work is common with us, which means you need to take responsibility for your tasks, structure your work approach, and independently drive processes forward. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
