Support Assistant/Support Person for Short-Term Accommodation Falken
Are you a stable and secure person who wants to work supporting and helping young people in their daily lives? We are currently looking for a support assistant/support person for our short-term accommodation Falken.
In Östersund municipality, we have 3 short-term accommodations that offer temporary stays outside the home for children and young people with disabilities. Falken provides young people aged 15-21 with opportunities for recreation and a change of environment, while their relatives receive temporary relief.
Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, sleeping on-call, weekdays, and weekends. Awake night shifts may also occur. You will work according to a laundry room schedule which gives you a good opportunity to influence your schedule according to applicable guidelines.
The position encompasses 86% with the possibility to work up to 100% in other areas of the disability sector, providing you with a chance for variation, new experiences, and a broader network. We are committed to creating a flexible work environment where your wishes and the goals of the organization meet. Start date is according to agreement.
Your New Job
As a support assistant/support person at Falken, you help young people manage their daily lives and the challenges that may arise, both at home and outside. Your mission is to create good conditions for as independent and meaningful a life as possible, both in daily life and in preparation for adulthood. The work includes practical support such as cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene, as well as pedagogical support through planned activities that strengthen the young people's abilities and independence. Leisure time is an important part of the mission and is shaped according to the young people's needs, interests, and wishes. Activities may include games, outings, bus rides, shopping, and cooking, taking place both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather.
You will be part of a team where collaboration, responsibility, and flexibility are crucial. The work is carried out in close cooperation with colleagues, support pedagogues, guardians, habilitation services, and child and adolescent psychiatry. To create security and predictability, you will work with clarifying pedagogy, including planning boards and visual support. We place great importance on good encounters and a low-arousal working method. At Falken, you work based on a KASAM-inspired approach, where comprehensibility, manageability, and meaningfulness are central components. The work also involves alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) and signs as alternative and augmentative communication (SAC), tailored to each young person. Daily documentation occurs in several different systems and is an important part of the work.

Your Competence
Requirements
- High school education deemed suitable by the employer. We prefer that you have a focus on care, education, or social work.
- Physical ability that corresponds to the possibility of actively participating in games, walks, or similar activities
- Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form
- Driving license B
Meritorious
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or other experience deemed equivalent by the employer
- Experience working with children and/or young people
- Experience in close-to-care work
- Experience working with a low-arousal approach
- Experience working with AAC and/or SAC
- Good computer skills in our systems: Viva, Inprint, Teams/Outlook/Office
- Experience with clarifying pedagogy
