Press Secretary for the Left Party in Stockholm
Vänsterpartiets Fullmäktigegrupp i StockholmStockholms län, Stockholm
Previous experience is desired
Do you want to help shape the story of Stockholm - and win the election in 2026?
The Left Party is Stockholm's third largest party and part of the red-green majority that governs the city. We work for a Stockholm that holds together: with stronger welfare, a fair climate transition, and reduced inequalities.
In the 2022 election, we conducted our best campaign in over 70 years. Now we aim even higher. Ahead of the election year 2026, we are looking for a press secretary who wants to help take our communication to the next level - in the media, on social media, and in public discourse.
About the role
As a press secretary, you are a key person in our communication efforts during an intense and politically decisive election year. You will be part of an engaged and professional communication team of four people, led by the head of communications. Together, you are responsible for the Left Party's overall communication in Stockholm City Hall.
Our workplace is in Stockholm City Hall - right in the midst of political developments.
Your responsibilities
- Work strategically with communication during the election year 2026
- Manage and develop relationships with journalists and editorial offices
- Write press releases, opinion articles, talking points, and communication materials
- Provide advice to politicians before and during media contacts
- Coordinate communication within the political majority
- Actively work with social media - both strategically and operationally - to strengthen the Left Party's impact and reach
- Plan, produce, and publish content tailored for different platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X)
- Work with moving content: ideas, scripts, simpler production, and publishing
- Monitor the environment, follow opinion trends, and identify communication opportunities
- Participate in a rotating press duty, which means availability on certain weekends
- Participate in outreach events and campaign efforts
We are looking for someone who
- Has relevant academic education or equivalent experience
- Has documented experience in communication work in politically governed organizations, such as parties, social movements, or public organizations
- Has very good knowledge of Swedish politics and a good understanding of the Left Party's policies and societal analysis
- Is an excellent writer with a sense for both news logic and political messaging
- Has good analytical skills and can translate complex politics into clear, impactful communication
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes responsibility, and has good judgment
It is a plus if you also have
- Experience in strategic and operational work with social media, preferably in a political or opinion-forming environment
- Documented experience working with moving images, especially short formats for social media
- Understanding of how different platforms work - algorithms, tone, timing, and target audiences
- Experience in crisis management or fast media situations
- Negotiation experience
- Knowledge of parliamentary work, preferably at the municipal level
Personal qualities
We place great emphasis on personal suitability. You are collaborative, proactive, and confident in your professional role. You share the Left Party's values and want to contribute to a society characterized by equality and solidarity.
The Left Party strives for diversity in the workplace and welcomes applicants from different backgrounds, gender identities, and ages.
