Uppsala Parish

The Church of Sweden Uppsala consists of six urban parishes working together and is also responsible for Uppsala cemeteries.

Five of the parishes formed Uppsala Parish in 2014 with a joint board and leadership. Together we want to be the local church for 180,000 residents of Uppsala.

Old Uppsala Parish

With different profiles, the three churches of Old Uppsala Parish hold together as one body. The parish has three churches: the medieval cathedral in Old Uppsala, the cooperation church Lötenkyrkan, and Tunabergskyrkan, where you will have your main service.

Tunabergskyrkan is a “children and family church” where the parish celebrates services and mass with both small and large every other Sunday. The church is located in the middle of a residential area with connections to schools and housing in the area. Tunabergskyrkan has an inclusive approach where activities such as sign language services, disability activities, and rainbow families are regularly present.

The position involves:

• serving during the “small and large” Sundays
• leading six staff members and being part of the parish's management group
• participating in Uppsala Parish's confirmation work
• being budget and location responsible in Tunabergskyrkan
• working with services and church activities in the parish's churches

We are looking for someone who

• is an enabler for volunteers who, together with employees and volunteers, want to create conditions for people from different generations to meet in the parish.
• has joy in leading and developing a worship life together with church musicians, parish educators, church wardens, children, and families.
• has visions of how learning and teaching can be developed in parish activities.
• wants to grow into the role of being the “priest in the village” with a connection to Tunabergskyrkan and sees that your task is to be locally anchored with good collaboration with the surrounding area.

As a leader, you are available to staff and attentive to both employees and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Ordained according to the Church of Sweden's order

We would like you to have training in leadership. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

About the position

The position is a permanent full-time employment. A probationary period may apply. Start date is September 1, 2026.
