Are you driven by seeing your ideas come to life? Welcome to our exciting and technology-intensive world.

Your Role

We are now looking for a driven maintenance engineer who wants to take a central role in ensuring high operational reliability and long-term development of our production system. The role combines technical depth with strategic responsibility and offers great opportunities to influence how maintenance operations develop over time.

The maintenance department at Saab in Tannefors is responsible for all maintenance and repair work of production equipment. We are about 35 employees with different competencies and areas of responsibility. Most of the work is carried out by our own staff, but when necessary, we collaborate with equipment manufacturers and local service providers.

Production is conducted in various shift forms depending on the workshop. Within maintenance, we primarily work during the day and in two shifts, and we also staff an on-call service around the clock.

Our workshops and types of machines include:

  • Machine workshop, mainly milling and turning machines
  • Sheet metal workshop
  • Composite workshop
  • Surface treatment and painting
  • Assembly, final assembly, and hangar

In the role of maintenance engineer, you will work closely with both production and maintenance technicians. You will participate in investment projects, drive technical improvement work, and contribute to developing a long-term and sustainable maintenance strategy. The role also involves supporting competence development within the department through work with training and succession planning, as well as leading smaller projects within both production and maintenance. On-call duty may occur in this role. Currently, maintenance engineers share the responsibility of receiving and, if necessary, coordinating and delegating fault reports around the clock. After introduction and training, we expect the applicant to gradually become involved in this work.

As a maintenance engineer, you will:

  • Develop and drive maintenance strategies for production
  • Be responsible for and optimize spare parts strategy
  • Support technicians in their daily work and contribute technical expertise
  • Participate in and drive improvement and investment projects
  • Have supplier contacts and follow up on technical services and products
  • Create reports and present results and improvement proposals to management

Your Profile

We believe you are analytical, structured, and have a good ability to see the big picture. You thrive in collaboration but are also confident in driving issues and projects independently. You communicate technical solutions in a pedagogical and clear manner, both to technicians and management.

In the role of maintenance engineer, you act as a technical leader, which means you can engage others, build trust, and contribute to change efforts. You have the ability to handle multiple parallel tasks and make well-founded decisions even in more pressured situations. Experience in maintenance or construction of machine tools is a strong merit.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Technical university education or equivalent experience
  • Documented experience in maintenance work within the manufacturing industry
  • Good understanding of mechanics, electricity, and/or automation
  • Enjoys working closely with production and taking technical responsibility
  • Good knowledge of English in both spoken and written form

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience with CNC-controlled machine tools and their maintenance
  • Experience with PLC and control systems
  • Experience in automation and robotic systems
  • Experience in improvement work (Lean, TPM, or similar)
  • Familiarity with digital maintenance systems (CMMS)

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
