About the Role

We are now looking for a support educator for a temporary position from March 1, 2026, for at least one year at the group home Julianska gatan in northeastern Gothenburg.

We offer you a varied job with great responsibility where you make a difference in people's everyday lives!

The group home has six apartments and caters to adults with mental disabilities, mental health issues, and in some cases, substance abuse may occur. The unit houses older women, and care is included in the daily work.

As a support educator, you have overall responsibility for the educational work within the organization. You establish, follow up, and further develop working methods and methods, ensuring that they are used effectively and equitably in daily work. You support and guide the workgroup, supervise methodological work, and actively contribute to the organization's quality development and systematic improvement work.

Your role includes, among other things:

  • Supporting and supervising support assistants in establishing and following up on implementation plans and social documentation.
  • Working with method development, particularly focusing on ESL (An Independent Life), IBIC (The Individual's Best in Focus), and LAB (Low-Affecting Approach).
  • Contributing to a safe and structured environment for our tenants, where independence and participation are in focus.

You collaborate with relatives, guardians, and other key individuals to ensure that the tenant receives good care, support, and service. You are also part of a network with other educators for development and experience exchange.

Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and every other weekend. Awake night shifts are also available at the unit. We will have an adjustable base schedule. Working hours are partly allocated to activities with close work with users combined with educational time.

Qualifications

For the position of support educator, post-secondary specialization in the disability area is required, covering at least 200 YH points, 120 university credits, or a combination thereof corresponding to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 university credits and at least two years of experience working with support and service for people with disabilities. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education that the employer deems equivalent.

Communication is an important part of the job, which requires you to master the Swedish language both orally and in writing. This means a passing grade in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1. Those who do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1 may be offered to take a language test through the test user EducateIt.

It is highly meritorious to have experience working with the target group social psychiatry. Likewise, if you have worked as a support educator or in a similar role. We also prefer that you have experience with the low-affecting approach.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Takes responsibility for your and the group's tasks. You do your best to complete all tasks correctly and follow up on how it turned out.
  • Is friendly and helpful to others even in a stressful situation. You show respect for everyone you meet at work.
  • Has a good understanding of how individuals absorb knowledge and their different conditions. You adapt the way you convey your message to the recipient and encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement.
  • Is calm and secure in pressured and difficult situations. You distinguish between the issue and the person and can make well-founded decisions under time pressure.

We look forward to reading your application!
