Parliamentary Officer at the Swedish Parliament Administration
The Swedish Parliament Administration is an authority tasked with facilitating the work of the parliament. Approximately 700 politically neutral employees work at the Parliament Administration with many different types of tasks. The main task of the Parliamentary Secretariat is to assist the Speaker in planning the chamber's work, preparing and conducting the chamber's meetings, and dispatching the parliament's decisions. The Secretariat is also responsible for managing the composition of the parliament, elections within the parliament, and the register of members' financial interests.
Your Responsibilities
As a parliamentary officer, you will work with various types of cases primarily related to the chamber's meetings. The officers in the unit work closely together and are responsible for their respective parts of the parliamentary process. This involves ongoing contacts with members of parliament, party secretariats, committees, and the Government Offices, as well as the registration and dispatch of documents. You will serve during the chamber's meetings. This task includes managing the chamber's IT systems where the agenda, speaker list, and votes are handled. Scheduled evening shifts occur regularly.
Your Qualifications
You should have an academic degree with a social science focus or equivalent competence. You have worked with administrative tasks for at least one to two years, and it is an advantage if this was in a politically governed organization.
You should have an interest in social issues and a good understanding of the role and tasks of the parliament. Experience from working with the parliamentary process or from the Government Offices is an advantage. Very good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form is required.
We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. For example, you need to have good collaboration skills, be meticulous, and be able to handle a high work pace. It is important that you are flexible and have good judgment. You should be prepared to perform both routine and more qualified tasks. You should have a good ability to manage different IT systems and be able to work independently.
Swedish citizenship is required as the position is classified in a security class.
The employment is temporary until March 1, 2027, but may potentially be extended. The preliminary start date for the position is planned for May 2026 or by agreement.
If a personal letter is not requested
We work competence-based throughout the process and are keen on an inclusive, fair, objective, and candidate-friendly process. In this process, we ask you to answer a number of selection questions instead of requesting a personal letter.
We Offer You
At the Swedish Parliament Administration, you will work with stimulating, developing, and socially beneficial tasks close to the heart of democracy. Here you will face professional challenges and good conditions regarding vacation, occupational pension, parental leave, and professional development. In the parliament's premises, there is a gym and training room with various training sessions every day. We strive for our employees to have a good balance between work and leisure.
