JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The national program of the adapted upper secondary school in Växjö Municipality is located at Kungsmadskolan.
The national program of the adapted upper secondary school is a 4-year vocational education for students with intellectual disabilities. Currently, we have about 75 students and approximately 30 teachers and student assistants working here. We always work with the individual in focus to ensure that each student has the right conditions to develop as far as possible. We are a safe and positive team with an open atmosphere.
The role of a student assistant involves monitoring the student's interests and integrating the student into the group, enabling them to solve their own situations. As a student assistant, you may work as a resource person for a specific student but can also support the entire class in various situations. You provide support and guidance to the student in all situations during the school day; both before, after, during, and between lessons. You help the student find individual solutions to acquire knowledge and provide them with tools to achieve greater independence. The teacher has primary responsibility for the work in the classroom, and the student assistant often works under the teacher's instructions, so it is essential to have a good and close collaboration with the teachers you meet. The student assistant can, based on the teacher's instructions, lead parts of the student's education. As a student assistant, you work with all students and meet them with warmth and respect for their different needs. Since students' needs vary, you must be flexible and aware that your tasks may change at short notice.
As a student assistant, it is important to take responsibility and be flexible. Having good collaboration skills and a positive attitude are key success factors in your role as a student assistant.
The position is a temporary employment of 0.88% with a salary during breaks.
QUALIFICATIONS
You have life experiences that allow you to understand and meet students with a challenging socio-economic background in an empathetic way while also being a role model based on your understanding of the student's background.
You are accustomed to working with/meeting individuals with disabilities, both intellectual, physical, and neuropsychiatric.
You are familiar with low-arousal approaches and reflecting with others in the team about interactions. Your approach helps students achieve greater independence. You are flexible and communicative as a colleague and team member.
