YOUR ROLE

As a preschool assistant in Skellefteå municipality, you help make everyday life meaningful for the children. You actively participate in their play, learning, and development, contributing to creating a safe environment where every child feels seen and included. Your task is to work together with preschool teachers and colleagues to implement planning in practice – in activities, excursions, and everyday situations that strengthen the children's language, imagination, social skills, and understanding of the world around them.

In this role, you are a present adult who meets the children where they are, both in small moments and in longer processes. You help shape an operation where joy, safety, and learning always go hand in hand, and where children have the best conditions to grow and develop.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone with a preschool assistant education, either from the child and leisure program with a social or pedagogical focus or through vocational training in adult education. Previous experience working in preschool is a significant advantage. Since you will be working closely with children, it is a requirement to submit a current extract from the criminal record.

This is a role where your personal qualities matter a lot. To thrive and succeed, you need to enjoy working with children, value play as an important part of learning, and be a safe role model. You are considerate in your interactions with children, colleagues, and guardians and contribute selflessly to the common goal – the children's safety, development, and learning.

In this role, you also need to be structured and able to plan, organize, and follow up on your work while being flexible when everyday life presents changes. As a present adult, you take responsibility for the children's safety by keeping an eye on them, being aware of risks, and acting quickly when needed.

Since the job involves documentation and communication with digital tools, it is important that you have basic IT skills. It is also a requirement that you have good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, and can adapt your language to different situations and target groups. In some areas, a B driver's license is also required.

It is an advantage if you can speak Finnish or Sami, as Skellefteå is a Finnish and Sami administrative municipality. Knowledge of sign language is also seen as a resource.
