The Green Party in Umeå is looking for someone to work as a campaign coordinator and political secretary to contribute to our political work and coordinate the election campaign ahead of the election on September 13, 2026, and participate in the work afterwards. Formally, these are two different roles where the campaign coordinator role involves working with the election campaign and its campaigns, and the political secretary role involves working with municipal politics. In practice, the roles overlap significantly.

We are looking for someone who, together with our regular staff, can work on our daily municipal political work and ensure that our election campaign runs smoothly to increase our voter support in Umeå. We seek someone who finds it enjoyable to work in an election campaign, is interested in politics, and is good at organizing and engaging other people.

Your tasks

The position involves work as both a campaign coordinator and a political secretary. The campaign coordinator role is tied to the work in the Green Party in Umeå, while the political secretary role is tied to the work in Umeå municipality with municipal politics. Both roles require flexibility and some work on weekends and evenings, as our politicians, candidates, and members have the opportunity to engage.

The role of campaign coordinator:

You will primarily work alongside our current administrator/political secretary in Umeå, our politicians, other employees, as well as candidates for the elections and members. Your main tasks are to strengthen the conditions for our members and candidates to conduct a successful election campaign. You will plan and organize the practical work in the election campaign and be the right hand and feet to the MP Umeå election group. An election plan has been developed as support and direction for the work to be carried out. An election campaign consists of many different shifting parts, from helping to organize and participate in campaign activities, administrative tasks such as ordering ballots, campaign materials, to arranging meetings, events, and training for candidates. It also involves a lot of coordination with our affiliated organizations: Green Youth and Green Students, all of which have their own activities and are part of the party's election campaign. In the role of campaign coordinator, you will be supervised by a campaign manager who is responsible for approximately 3-4 employees in Västerbotten. You will need to handle a lot of emails and contact with many different people.

The role of political secretary:

In the role of political secretary, you are formally employed by Umeå municipality but work solely for the Green Party in Umeå in municipal politics. In this role, you work with the Green Party's political group leader in Umeå, who also supervises you, and our current political secretary, as well as other employees. The work involves participating in our municipal political work with tasks such as reviewing municipal documents, preparing materials on various municipal political issues, communicating municipal politics, etc.

The campaign manager and group leader have a close dialogue about what needs to be prioritized during the work process.

Job requirements

You need to have:

• Ease in making contacts with people, being effective and pedagogical in communicating both in writing and verbally
• Good organizational skills, being service-oriented and good at collaborating, even in a stressful environment.
• Ability to take initiative, being structured and able to work efficiently. The position involves a lot of independent work with the ability to make decisions.
• Good computer skills and familiarity with or the ability to quickly learn Google's features such as Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Meets, etc.

It is an advantage if you:

• Have been active in the non-profit sector and are familiar with the Green Party's organization. Membership in the Green Party is not a requirement, but we expect you to sympathize with our politics.
• Have experience in image and video production for social media, advertisements, and flyers/similar in tools like Canva.

Length of employment, employment rate, and working hours:

The exact length of employment and start date is flexible depending on the applicant's wishes and our needs. It is a project employment from approximately March 1 to September 30 at 40-60%, possibly less initially and more later during the election campaign. Working hours may vary depending on different phases of the election campaign. Salary according to agreement. Irregular working hours may occur, such as weekends and evenings.

Office

You will have access to two offices: one that is the Green Party in Umeå's municipal political office at Umeå municipality's City Hall, and another that is the new association office for all of MP Västerbotten, at Ordenshuset on Sveagatan 8 in Umeå.
