Temporary Position in Social Psychiatry

Do you want to make a difference for people who need support to manage their daily lives? In Social Psychiatry, we work with individuals living with mental health issues, psychological disabilities, neuropsychiatric disabilities, and those who have had or currently have substance abuse problems. As a substitute, you will play an important role in creating structure, safety, and participation in their lives – either in their homes or in our special service accommodations.

This is a job for you who want to contribute to improving people's opportunities to live an independent and meaningful life. Right now, we are primarily looking for those who want to work extra and are interested in summer jobs. During the summer, there is an opportunity to work a longer continuous substitute position for about eight weeks.

YOUR ROLE

As a support assistant or support staff, you will work together with the individual to find routines and strategies that help their daily life function. This may involve planning the day, finding ways to cope with difficulties related to mental health or neuropsychiatric challenges, strengthening social contacts, or getting started with leisure activities. The job includes both practical and motivational support at home, and you will collaborate with relatives and other professionals around the individual. Unexpected situations may arise, and you will need to create calm and safety. You will work from a recovery-oriented approach, recognizing and utilizing the individual's strengths.

Working hours are varied and include day, evening, and weekend shifts. In some parts of the operation, on-call or overnight shifts may also occur. Regardless of where you work, you will receive an introduction tailored to your previous knowledge and experience, ensuring a safe start in the role.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for individuals who meet others with commitment, stability, and attentiveness. You have a calm and secure demeanor, even when situations change rapidly or when someone is in crisis or recovery. You are observant and a good listener, showing respect for each person's needs and circumstances.

The job requires the ability to take responsibility for your own tasks while closely collaborating with colleagues. You need to have a good foundational security and an interest in empowering individuals rather than doing things for them. To work as a support assistant, you need relevant education in care and social services or child and leisure studies with a social or educational focus. For support staff, previous experience in social work or working with individuals with mental health issues or substance abuse is an advantage, but not a requirement. We also welcome those who are studying or wish to study to become police officers, social workers, psychologists, or behavioral scientists.

You must be at least 18 years old, have sufficient physical ability to meet the job's demands, and be able to express yourself well in Swedish both verbally and in writing, as documentation and communication are important parts of the job.

YOUR NEW WORKPLACE

Skellefteå is growing and developing – and within Social Psychiatry, you make a tangible difference for the people living here. Here, you will have a meaningful job where no day is the same, and you will learn a lot about both people and yourself. With us, you work in a culture characterized by optimism, collaboration, and engagement. Together, we create conditions for people to live their lives in the best possible way.

We warmly welcome your application!

GOOD TO KNOW

We recruit based on competence and focus on your experience, knowledge, and potential. Instead of a personal letter, you will answer some selection questions and attach an updated CV.

For retirees born in 1958 or earlier, a 25% higher hourly wage is offered during the months of June, July, and August.
