Music Teacher with Brass as Main Instrument Wanted!

Do you feel that music can enrich life – and do you want more children and young people to experience that feeling? Then this could be the job for you. Skellefteå Cultural School is now looking for an engaged teacher with brass as their main instrument and preferably one or more secondary instruments – who wants to inspire, teach, and make culture an obvious part of everyday life.

YOUR ROLE

As a cultural school teacher, you plan and conduct lessons both in our facilities and at schools. You teach in grade 2 where you work closely with classroom teachers. You teach both students who have chosen their instruments and students who participate in course and orchestra activities.

You are responsible for course activities, orchestra and ensemble leadership, as well as projects and concerts together with colleagues from various artistic fields. Work occurs both during the day and in the evening, and during certain holidays and weekends, work may be required. As an educator, you create a safe and inspiring environment where each student can develop musically and personally. You use your skills on your main and secondary instruments flexibly to meet the different needs and interests of the students.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant higher education for work in a cultural school, or equivalent subject competence combined with pedagogical ability.
  • Main instrument brass and preferably one or more secondary instruments that can be used in teaching.
  • Good communication skills in Swedish, as well as basic knowledge of English.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a car.

It is an advantage if you have experience working with children's groups.

We are looking for someone who can plan, structure, and drive their work independently. You collaborate unpretentiously with colleagues and contribute your expertise and knowledge to the team. You thrive in creative environments and have a genuine interest in meeting and inspiring children and young people. You have the ability to remain calm even in pressured situations.

A police background check is required for the job.

YOUR NEW WORKPLACE

Skellefteå is a place with strong faith in the future – and a growing cultural life.
