Within the Health and Care Administration, we have full-time as the norm. This means that all permanent employees fundamentally have a full-time position. More information about what this means for this position will be provided during a possible interview. Exempt from full-time as the norm are personal assistants.

We are now looking for a residential assistant for a parental substitute that extends until 2027-03-03. The group home at Helsingforsgatan 159 is located in the Ekeby district, about 2.5 km from Uppsala city center. From here, there are nice walking and cycling paths as well as good bus connections for those who prefer to use public transport.

There are five residential places for adults with LSS decisions regarding housing with special services. The work is always based on the individual’s needs to make everyday life as predictable, safe, and joyful as possible.

Job Description

As a residential assistant, you are responsible for providing individually tailored support and care in everyday life, focusing on creating a safe and meaningful existence for each person. The assignment includes motivating and actively participating in various leisure activities, as well as working in a structured and motivating manner based on established implementation plans.

You are also responsible for collaborating and maintaining contact with other actors in the user’s network. As part of the assignment, you contribute to developing the operations in line with the municipality's values, routines, and guidelines, and work with methods such as alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), language development approaches, and low-arousal responses.

The position involves working irregular hours scheduled for days, evenings, and every other weekend.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with one of the following qualifications or other education that the employer deems relevant for the assignment.

  • high school diploma in health and care
  • adult education in health and care
  • care education equivalent to nursing assistant competence

It is a requirement that you have previous experience in the nursing profession and experience working with care for people with disabilities and/or neuropsychiatric diagnoses. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and also have good computer skills. It is an advantage if you have knowledge of augmentative communication (AAC) or low-arousal responses. It is also an advantage if you have a driver's license.

You are a person who takes initiative and plans activities that suit each user's needs and conditions. You collaborate well with colleagues and other professional roles to provide safe and coordinated support. In your interactions with users, you are attentive, respectful, and adapt your communication style to the individual. You have a good ability to understand the user's situation and needs and handle difficult situations calmly and factually.

As of July 1, 2023, nursing assistant is a protected job title. To use the title nursing assistant, you must provide proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed as a nursing assistant on July 1, 2023. If you have nursing assistant education but lack proof or certification, you may temporarily receive the title care assistant during a transition period.

We will request an extract from the criminal record before an employment offer can be made.

In your application, you must state your citizenship. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must also be able to prove that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only occur after verification of the work permit, which is required according to the Aliens Ordinance.

Employment with Uppsala Municipality may involve a military placement.
