Description
Do you have experience or a strong interest in working with children with disabilities? Do you enjoy playing doctor and café, sledding, trying fun experiments and crafts, taking nature walks, and creating activities and small adventures in everyday life? Are you also a secure adult who can remain calm when emotions take over and situations require calmness, structure, and presence?
Then we want to meet you.
About the operation
Skärboda short-term accommodation offers short-term stays according to LSS for children and young people with various disabilities, such as autism, ADHD, and intellectual disabilities. The children stay with us for a few days each month, after school, on weekends, or during holidays to get a change of environment, recreation, and the opportunity to develop independence and participation. At the same time, families are offered relief.
Our facilities are currently being renovated, and soon the operation will take place in an even more adapted and child-friendly environment, with good conditions for both activity and recovery. We, as adults, get to step into the children's world.
Job responsibilities
As a substitute with us, you are an active part of the children's everyday life. You plan, implement, and follow up on activities based on the children's needs, interests, and daily condition. This can involve play, creativity, outings, outdoor activities, daily routines, and social interactions.
If the child wants, we should be able to go to the movies, to the swimming pool, adventure center, or take trips in the local area. Outdoor activities are a natural part of the stay.
You provide support in everyday moments such as meals, hygiene, and evening routines, contribute to structure and safety, and work to strengthen the children's self-esteem, communication, and independence.
In the operation, various communication supports are used, such as visual supports and alternative communication. You are expected to have an interest in learning and using these in daily work.
The work also involves contact and collaboration with guardians and school staff.
We are looking for someone who
- Can create an exciting obstacle course, play video games, iron bead plates, and plan an exciting treasure hunt for Friday fun
- is secure, pedagogical, and stable in themselves
- can take responsibility for structuring and carrying out their work shift
- is creative, curious, and inventive in meeting children
- is patient, attentive, and solution-focused
- enjoys being physically active and present in play and activities
- can work both independently and in collaboration with colleagues
Your background
Education and/or experience in child and leisure, pedagogy, care, and similar fields are meritorious. Knowledge of autism, intellectual disabilities, low-arousal approaches, or clear pedagogical methods is an advantage. Experience with AAC/TAAC is meritorious; otherwise, you are expected to be curious and willing to learn.
You need to have good Swedish skills in speech and writing, as well as good physical ability. A B driver's license for a manual car is a requirement. A police record extract is required before employment.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Conditions
Hourly substitute.
