Do you want to make a real difference in the fight against homelessness? Uppsala Municipality is now expanding its team and is looking for someone who wants to work closely with people's everyday lives, providing outreach and accessible support where collaboration and client-centered work are at the core.

The Outreach Team

The Outreach Team is an operation organized under Housing Unit 1, which also works to prevent evictions, assesses emergency assistance, and investigates housing social contracts. The team started in its current form nearly a year ago and consists of social workers who operate under a team leader. Together with your colleagues in the team, the days are planned mainly with fieldwork and some administration. The work is flexible but is performed during daytime on weekdays and in the evenings, approximately two evenings per week. However, there are good opportunities to influence your own planning. The assistance we offer is voluntary and is not preceded by any authority decision. The target group is adults in acute homelessness.

Job Description

The work as an outreach worker in Uppsala Municipality involves identifying and reaching out to individuals experiencing homelessness and working to find a more stable housing situation while serving as a link to authorities. This is done through close contact and relationship-building with the individual. Collaboration with colleagues in the housing unit, addiction reception, housing first, financial support, and civil society are key elements.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained social worker or has another education that the employer deems relevant for the position. You need to have previous experience in client-centered work that can be substantiated with good references. The position requires a valid driver's license (B).

As a person, you are confident in your profession and have the courage to stand up for your convictions even in challenging situations. You are socially skilled, build relationships with ease, and create trust in your contacts. You communicate clearly and engagingly, whether in conversations with individuals or in larger groups, and you listen actively and adapt to the situation. You also have a strong understanding of people's diverse backgrounds and circumstances and take these perspectives into account in both your interactions and decisions.
