The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The position of expert is located at the head office of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service within the Treatment Support Section under the Department of Operational Content. The department's mission is to standardize, develop, and improve high-quality operational content for detention, prison, and probation, tailored to the needs of different client groups and the possibility of a life without crime.

The Treatment Support Section is tasked with supporting and developing the recidivism prevention work within the operational branches of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. This includes being responsible for issues related to the purchased care and treatment, developing and updating treatment programs, disseminating knowledge and information about treatment issues, coordinating and following up on the supportive environment at operational sites, managing the distribution of government grants and fund resources, as well as the administration of the Supervisory Boards. The current position is intended to work within the area of purchased care and treatment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Some of the clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service need extra support to reduce the risk of recidivism. Various forms of transition are available to facilitate the move from prison time to life in freedom. The Swedish Prison and Probation Service uses external providers for the transition measures or alternatives to prison where external housing or treatment is involved. The current position includes, among other things, assisting in the requirement specification and procurement of external providers, following up on treatment homes and contracts, and conducting site visits to external providers. The assignment also includes developing and producing guidelines and supporting the operations in matters related to purchased care and treatment. It is also part of the experts' assignment to educate external providers, probation, and prison staff on contracts, transition issues, contracted care, and system support, as well as to handle and investigate both external and internal complaints. The position also involves working on development and strategic issues within the area.

The position involves travel.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is self-driven, structured, and takes responsibility for their tasks and drives processes forward. You communicate clearly and ensure that expectations and messages reach all parties. With a good ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines, you work efficiently and ensure that the work is completed on time. You have good judgment, make well-founded assessments, and always have the best interests of the organization in mind.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree in social or behavioral sciences, or other education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
  • Several years of work experience in care and treatment with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service or related client groups
  • The ability to seamlessly switch between strategic perspectives and more complex tasks to handle questions of a directly operational nature
  • Experience in independent work with tasks requiring planning, coordination, quality assurance, and follow-up
  • Experience in driving development projects and/or qualified assignments
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Other training with a treatment focus that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
  • Experience working in probation or prison with transition measures
  • Experience working with contracted care investigations
  • Experience working at local, regional, and national levels
  • Experience working within the framework of the Public Procurement Act (LOU)
