SLU's Environmental Unit is now looking for an Environmental Coordinator who can contribute to SLU's environmental work. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of the Environmental Unit's team and drive environmental issues forward within SLU.
About the job
As an Environmental Coordinator, you will work broadly with environmental issues related to SLU's environmental management work. You will be involved in everything from SLU's environmental goals, environmental audits, follow-ups, and reporting, to contacts with other authorities and educational institutions. Much of the work involves coordinating efforts where you will provide support and advice to the organization regarding internal environmental issues for the entire SLU. As an Environmental Coordinator, you may perform a wide range of tasks such as contributing to environmental communication, identifying and following up on environmental aspects, supporting the organization regarding legal requirements and compliance in the environmental field, conducting regulatory reporting, and working on the coordination and implementation of environmental audits. Travel within Sweden may occur.
Your background
We are looking for someone with a relevant academic degree in natural sciences and work experience in environmental and sustainability work. You have worked with systematic environmental management in public or private sectors for at least two years. You need to have knowledge of environmental legislation, and it is also highly meritorious if you have good knowledge and/or experience working with the environmental management standard ISO 14001:2015. You also have good skills in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written. You are computer literate and proficient in the Office suite.
We consider it meritorious for the position if you have experience or knowledge of working with environmental audits, chemicals, and environmental risk assessments and/or working with environmental information. It is also meritorious if you have experience handling and processing large amounts of data for compilation, analysis, and reporting.
As a person, you are outgoing and have an easy time communicating and collaborating with others. The work requires responsibility, structure, accuracy, and self-leadership in your tasks. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
About us
The Environmental Unit actively works to increase knowledge, awareness, and engagement internally within the university regarding environmental issues. The Environmental Unit is responsible for coordination and communication regarding SLU's environmental management work and initiates and follows up on overarching environmental goals. The Environmental Unit also encompasses work with chemical safety, physical work environment, biosafety, and sustainability efforts related to Agenda 2030. The Environmental Unit is involved in many processes, including environmental-related authority contacts, coordination of internal and external environmental audits, and providing various tools for the organization. The Environmental Unit supports the entire SLU but is located at Ultuna in Uppsala.
The Department of Infrastructure is a department within the university's operational support. The department operates at the university's main locations in Umeå, Uppsala, and Alnarp. The department has about 120 employees and generates approximately 100 million SEK in revenue. The service areas of the operation encompass everything from basic services to governmental tasks and cater to the entire university.
