About the Workplace, SVA

Dangerous animal diseases can have serious consequences, from suffering in animals and humans to economic losses and disruptions in food supply. The National Veterinary Institute, SVA, is an expert authority that strengthens Sweden's ability to combat animal diseases that pose a threat to critical societal functions through diagnostics, research, and advisory services. Healthy animals – safe people.

Job Responsibilities

The assignment initially involves setting up premises, flows, and methods to identify primarily quarantine pathogens. It also involves accrediting methods and maintaining contact with the European reference laboratories (EURL) as well as with the Swedish Board of Agriculture and SLU.

You will be a key player in building the NRL together with other staff at SVA, especially those currently working in microbiological diagnostics. It is a unique opportunity to be part of establishing an entirely new operation that is of great importance to Swedish plant protection.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree in biology, such as plant pathology, and several years of experience working with plant pathogens, including laboratory work. You can communicate effectively in Swedish both verbally and in writing. Furthermore, you have a good understanding of the Swedish plant disease panorama. We also expect you to have experience in independently managing projects.

Desirable

Experience in quality work and research.

Conditions

The position starts with a six-month probationary period.

Other

Through diagnostics, research, and expertise, SVA contributes to good animal health and reduced transmission of diseases between animals and humans. With the recent memory of the coronavirus pandemic, we know that animal diseases can become a threat to society and have a severe impact on Sweden's food supply, health, and economy. As a preparedness authority, SVA is part of the Food Supply and Drinking Water sector.

SVA is a government agency, which means that all messages sent to us become public documents. If you have a protected identity, you should not apply for the job here on the web; instead, contact us.

Tests and work samples may be part of the recruitment process.

If you are a Swedish citizen and permanently employed at SVA, you will be placed in a war position within SVA.

Prior to the recruitment process, SVA has taken a deliberate stance on recruitment channels and marketing. Therefore, we do not wish to be contacted by advertising agencies or recruitment firms.

Grow and develop at SVA – welcome with your application!
