Department of Chemistry - Ångström

The Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in the field of chemistry.

The department has 270 employees and a turnover of 300 million SEK. At the department's six programs, highly successful research of international caliber is conducted. We have a large number of externally funded research projects, often with international collaboration, and we see continued good growth in our field. Specific Subject Description

The project includes the implementation of a new neural network architecture in atomic machine learning. Atomic machine learning has been very successful in predicting physical-chemical properties of materials and approximating potential energy surfaces. This project will follow our latest initiative to develop open-source PiNN (GitHub (https://github.com/Teoroo-CMC/PiNN/)).

Job Responsibilities

The position involves assisting the research in the aforementioned project. The tasks include literature studies, scientific programming, simulations, and analysis of results. It also includes communication of scientific results through reports and presentations. The results are expected to be summarized in scientific publications.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for the position:

• Master's degree in computational science or theoretical chemistry.
• Strong knowledge of scientific programming (Python and C++).
• Good knowledge of electronic structure calculations and molecular dynamics simulations.
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.

About the Employment

The position is temporary, until 2025-10-31. The extent is 100%. Start date is 2025-04-01 or by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
