About the position
The Data Protection Unit at the Legal Department consists of three employees in qualified support functions and specialist roles who together support the hospital's various themes and functions. As the head of the Data Protection Unit, you have overall responsibility for leading, developing, and strengthening the legal support in the area, with the goal of providing Karolinska University Hospital's operations with qualified and operationally relevant expert support.
The role primarily focuses on data protection legislation but may also encompass other areas of law based on the organization's needs. You lead and motivate employees, create engagement and participation, and ensure clear mandates and conditions to achieve common goals.
The work involves many collaboration areas within Karolinska University Hospital as well as in the Stockholm Region, and is conducted in an organization under constant development where digitization and increased demands for privacy place high demands on legal expertise and leadership. You are responsible for ensuring a constructive, coordinated, and legally secure collaboration with the region's other functions in data protection and for further developing cooperation with Karolinska Institute, aiming to support research, development, and education from a data protection perspective.

We are looking for someone who
- has a very good ability for advanced legal analysis and legal argumentation
- can break down complex legal issues and place them in a business and holistic perspective
- is self-driven, solution-oriented, and has high integrity with the ability to drive and develop legal work based on the organization's needs
- has good communication skills and can build trusting relationships and collaborate with different functions and levels in the organization
- is flexible, has good judgment, and can handle multiple parallel processes by thinking innovatively in complex contexts.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Law degree (LL.B. or equivalent)
- At least 7 years of experience in qualified legal work in the area of data protection legislation
- Experience from courts, the Government Offices, the EU Commission, or legal practice
- Experience working in larger organizations with complex decision-making processes.
Meritorious:
- Experience in legal work within regional or municipal operations
- Experience in a leading or coordinating role in the field of data protection
- Experience in strategic work and improvement initiatives in data protection
- Experience from the healthcare sector
- Experience in legal work related to AI and information security issues
