As the head of preventive services for the elderly, you have an important mission: to strengthen health, independence, and quality of life for elderly residents – today and in the future.

The preventive unit has long worked to create an elder-friendly society and is an important part of the municipality's efforts to promote health and quality of life for the elderly. As the head of the preventive unit, you lead an engaged team that has had a strong focus on brain health since 2010 and works, among other things, according to the five-finger model, and is now considered to be at the forefront at the national level in the field of dementia.

The unit is tasked with developing and implementing health-promoting and preventive measures for the elderly throughout Upplands-Bro municipality. Through strategic work and close collaboration with various stakeholders, the unit contributes to ensuring that the elderly receive support, security, and the opportunity to live an active and meaningful life.

About the assignment:

As the head of preventive services for the elderly, you have a strategic and value-based assignment: to create conditions for a healthy, meaningful, and secure life as one ages, together with employees, partners, and elderly residents.

The assignment is based on knowledge of risk and protective factors, understanding of normal aging, and a strong focus on health-promoting and preventive measures. You lead the work towards the goal that more elderly individuals can maintain their function, independence, and quality of life throughout their lives. With the right support, aging can be safe, active, and meaningful – even though it looks different for each individual.

You lead the preventive unit for the elderly, which includes day activities focused on dementia, secure enhanced homecoming, which includes support measures during the transition from hospital stay to home. Preventive measures such as meeting point activities, technology and handyman services, volunteer activities, and vision and hearing support are also within the unit's area of responsibility.

Your main areas of responsibility:

  • Operational responsibility: Plan, lead, and follow up on the work within the preventive unit to achieve set goals and develop the operations long-term.
  • Finance and personnel: Responsible for budget, resource allocation, and personnel management, including competence development and work environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with fellow managers and other operations within elderly care and other municipal operations, as well as establish and develop collaborations with external actors.
  • Quality development: Ensure that the measures are characterized by high quality and that the operations are accessible and safe for the target group.

In the role, you are expected to be a driving leader who inspires employees, creates engagement, and contributes to an elder-friendly society. As a unit manager, you report directly to the department head and are part of the management group for the elderly and care department.

Your experience and competence

University education such as a degree in social work, or other education combined with work experience that the employer deems equivalent. Experience working as a leader and with personnel, work environment, and operational responsibility along with budget responsibility. Experience working in politically governed operations. Good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

Our workplace is centrally located in Kungsängen, just a two-minute walk from commuter trains, buses, and general services, and about 30 minutes from Stockholm C. The role does not only involve work from Kungsängen, but you are expected to be active throughout the municipality where the unit conducts its various operations.
