JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Are you a secure and attentive person who enjoys working with children/youth and supporting them based on their individual needs? Then you might be the right person for our LSS accommodation where children and young people with disabilities live full-time. We are now looking for support assistants for the accommodation located in Hille.

As a support assistant, you are an important part of the children's everyday life, providing both security and motivation. You meet each child with empathy, respect, and a professional approach, even in emotionally challenging situations. You provide individually tailored support based on each child's needs and implementation plans and work both independently and together with colleagues.

This is a job for you who want to take responsibility, step forward, and be flexible when things change quickly. When challenges arise in the lives of the children or youth, you need to be able to guide them forward in a clear and secure way. The work can be challenging, and some of the children/youth may exhibit challenging and outwardly aggressive behavior that you must be able to meet with professionalism and compassion. You collaborate closely with guardians, schools, and habilitation to ensure that the children receive the right interventions.

You use and introduce alternative communication methods such as TAKK, visual schedules, TD Snap, Widgit, and PECS to enhance the children's communication and participation.

As a support assistant, your tasks also include:

• Documenting your work in social journals, writing and updating action plans.
• You are responsible for planning, implementing, and documenting your work according to current routines, as well as evaluating and updating as needed.
• You participate and support the children/youth in all activities of the accommodation, both indoor and outdoor.

The accommodation is staffed around the clock, which means that shift work is included according to the schedule with day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a secure and attentive person who provides children and youth with the support they need in everyday life. Through clear communication, respect, and the ability to motivate and empower individuals, you contribute to a safe, positive, and developing living environment.

• You have an approved education as a social pedagogue, care and nursing program, or child and leisure program with a focus on social work.
• You must have at least one year of experience working in accommodation with special services for children or youth according to LSS (children's accommodation), short-term care for children or youth according to LSS, or group housing for adults under LSS.
• You have experience or training in alternative communication methods such as TAKK, visual schedules, TD Snap (pratis), Widgit, PECS.
• You must be able to maintain social documentation and have good computer skills.
• A requirement for the position is to have a manual driver's license as you often drive the children on outings and other activities.

It is an advantage if you have training or experience in low-arousal approaches.

• Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to adjust both perspectives and working methods when circumstances require it.
