What will you work on?
In the role of investigator at the Unit of Preparedness and Crisis Management, you will work with crisis and preparedness-related issues within the agency's area of responsibility. You will be responsible for independently and collaboratively investigating and coordinating cases, as well as producing decision-making materials, analyses, and high-quality reports. The work also includes developing and supporting the agency's work within civil defense and ensuring a robust operation. For example, through continuity planning, risk and vulnerability analyses, training and exercise initiatives, and collaboration within the preparedness sector. You will also participate in monitoring and preparedness planning for serious cross-border health threats, primarily infections.
You will collaborate both internally and externally, with municipalities, regions, government agencies, and international actors, on issues related to preparedness and serious cross-border health threats. In this role, you will also contribute to the agency's crisis management during events and crises, and you will participate in ongoing efforts to strengthen the organization's resilience and preparedness for societal disturbances, heightened readiness, and war.
Main Responsibilities
- Participate in and be responsible for preparedness-related tasks within the agency's regulatory work as a preparedness authority, including continuity work, risk and vulnerability analysis, capability planning, training and exercise activities, as well as environmental monitoring and situation reporting.
- Contribute to the development of the unit's and agency's crisis preparedness, civil defense, and work against serious cross-border health threats and monitoring of infectious diseases.
- Participate in preparedness work and the development of processes and activities within the unit, the agency, and in the health and care preparedness sector, as well as in the agency's coordination of preparedness against serious health threats.
- Assist in ongoing work within the unit's area of responsibility, including support to the department and management.
- Participate in and represent the agency in national and international meetings, projects, and collaboration forums.
- Participate in the unit's and agency's general development work and tasks such as consultations, projects, and collaboration.
- Provide operational support during events and crises within the agency's area of responsibility.
Who are we looking for?
Requirements for the position:
- University degree in a field that the agency deems relevant, such as law, political science, global health, or medical education.

Great emphasis is placed on:
- Experience in similar work within public administration.
- Personal qualities such as good collaboration skills, attention to detail, initiative, responsibility, risk awareness, as well as a holistic perspective and good interpersonal skills.
- Good analytical ability.
- Experience collaborating with individuals with different competencies and professions.
- Very good knowledge of and ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
- Good knowledge of the Office suite.
Significant emphasis is placed on:
- Experience in preparedness work, such as crisis coordination, environmental monitoring, continuity work, risk and vulnerability analysis, training and education, or capability planning.
- Experience and documented ability to investigate and prepare cases, produce materials and reports, and ensure their quality.
Emphasis is placed on:
- Experience in preparedness work at a government agency, EU level, or within WHO or NATO.
- Experience in crisis management.
- Experience working with serious cross-border health threats.
- Basic understanding of information security and experience handling classified information.
What does the unit do?
The Unit of Preparedness and Crisis Management coordinates preparedness against infectious diseases and other serious health threats. The unit is responsible for coordinating and developing, among other things, the agency's crisis management organization, the function of duty officer (TiB), and work with civil defense.

About the Employment
You will be employed as an investigator based at our office in Solna. The position is a permanent full-time employment that begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date is as soon as possible by agreement.
As an employee of the Public Health Agency of Sweden, you may be placed in a war position. Some positions are placed in a security class where Swedish citizenship may be a requirement. A security check will then be conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
At the agency, there may be opportunities to enter into an agreement for remote work of up to 40 percent of your working time.
