Treatment Assistant at SiS Youth Home Klarälvsgården

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS Youth Home Klarälvsgården receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues as well as criminal behavior and substance abuse. We are tasked with receiving boys with an increased need for psychiatric interventions.

Job Description

Do you want to help create life-changing differences for vulnerable individuals? Then the job as a treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your role is to motivate our youth/clients to new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that the routines in the department function as they should. You play a significant role in the stability and safety of our youth/clients, and you are responsible for the basics of daily life such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You help maintain order and safety in the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building secure relationships and contribute to ensuring that our youth/clients receive the safety and security they need to break old habits. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformation. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of people, great empathy, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are willing to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You should also have:

  • Completed and approved secondary education
  • Driver's license (B)
  • Very good Swedish in speech and writing as the work may involve some documentation and contact with other authorities
  • Experience in youth-related work or work with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., from psychiatry, HVB operations, or from care and support.
  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.

*Exceptions to the requirement for at least a two-year post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).

Meritorious:

  • Experience working with our target group boys aged 16-21 years.

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
