Description

At the Culture and Leisure Administration in Karlstad, every workday is about making a difference for those who live and reside in Karlstad, with the ultimate ambition that everyone should have the opportunity for a meaningful leisure time.

We now have the opportunity to expand our team with two leisure guides at the Culture and Leisure Administration and are looking for you who, with commitment and constructive ideas, want to give all children and young people the chance to find leisure activities they enjoy.

The Culture and Leisure Administration encompasses Karlstad Municipality's youth centers, libraries, support for associations, operation of swimming and leisure facilities, outdoor gyms, exercise and ski trails, sports fields, and ice rinks, as well as the implementation of large and small events.

Responsibilities

Karlstad offers a rich variety of cultural and leisure activities within, for example, the Culture and Leisure Administration, the cultural school, and the association life. However, access to meaningful leisure time is unevenly distributed, and many children struggle to find contexts that suit them. An important component in helping more people find the right fit is the method of Leisure Guidance, where children and families systematically receive support to find and enter new leisure contexts, taking into account the child's conditions and individual needs.

As this is a new method and new positions within the administration, you will have significant opportunities to influence how the work is conducted and how we in the administration will approach the task of leisure guidance. The leisure guides will have significant responsibility for developing and laying the foundation for how the work should be carried out, in collaboration with operational developers, the head of operations, and other colleagues in the administration.

The work involves creating a deep understanding of local opportunities and challenges within the culture and leisure sector and developing close cooperation with schools, social services, associations, and other stakeholders.

The working method is actively outreach, long-term, and follow-through, where each child receives support until they are established in a meaningful leisure activity. It also includes compiling statistics, documenting, presenting results in various contexts, investigating how leisure guidance works in other municipalities, as well as identifying needs in Karlstad, starting and finding networks, creating evaluation and follow-up plans, and representing Karlstad Municipality while serving as a good ambassador for the administration.

The positions are based in office premises at KCCC, on Tage Erlandergatan 8 in Karlstad. Since the work involves a significant amount of outreach, the workplace and working hours will vary depending on the assignment. Evening and weekend work may occur.

As the assignment develops, you will need to organize and coordinate staff based on tasks related to the leisure guidance method.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a proactive and problem-solving approach. You have an academic background in pedagogy, sociology, social sciences, culture, sports, or public health, and broad experience in the culture and leisure sector with a focus on children and youth, either professionally or voluntarily. Since the work largely relies on independence, it is important that you can manage parallel tasks and plan and execute your work in a structured manner.

To succeed in the role of Leisure Guide, you need a good understanding of the structures and conditions of both municipal actors and the association life and civil society, and be able to navigate between them based on their respective opportunities and capabilities. Experience in establishing and maintaining well-functioning collaborations between different actors and identifying new opportunities is essential for the role.

We would also like you to have knowledge and experience working with children at risk of marginalization. You need to have good communication skills in the Swedish language, both orally and in writing, and be service-oriented and enjoy working with many different people and stakeholders.

A valid driver's license (B) is required.
