Treatment Pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Klarälvsgården

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Klarälvsgården receives non-compulsory school boys with psychosocial issues as well as criminality and substance abuse. We are tasked with receiving boys with an increased need for psychiatric interventions.

Job Description

Do you want to help create life-changing transformations for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the security, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivational work, providing support in everyday life. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the implementation of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work, contributing to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You help maintain safety according to our routines and contribute to the smooth running of daily activities such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, etc. Being a contact person is also one of your tasks. The work may also include mentoring new employees and interns. This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Saltus is a department where the treatment work is clearly focused on preparing young people for life outside the institution. In close collaboration with the youth, social services, and other important actors, we work to build functioning daily structures, responsibility, and independence. The transition work is a crucial part of the care chain and suits you who want to work closely with relationships, practically and goal-oriented, focusing on real change.

Working hours are according to a schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction, preparing you for the treatment role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's core values of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are self-assured and have an easy time building relationships with both youth and other staff members. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You easily collaborate with others and can handle conflicts constructively.

You should also have:

  • A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or an equivalent degree from a university.
  • A valid driver's license (B).
  • Good Swedish language skills in both spoken and written form.

Meritorious:

  • Experience working with our target group of boys aged 16-21 years.

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
