Description
The Adult Department is responsible for the municipality's activities for people with mental disabilities and addiction/dependence on alcohol or drugs as well as gambling.
The department has over 200 employees in housing, rehabilitation, employment, outpatient care, and authority functions.
Responsibilities
At the Treatment Unit for adults aged 25 and over, five treatment consultants work among others.
As a treatment consultant, you primarily work with conversation therapy aimed at individuals who have developed problematic use or dependence on alcohol, drugs, or gambling issues.
The treatment methods we use are based on the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines and recommendations for care and support in cases of addiction and dependence. In addition, we offer psychosocial treatment conversations and NADA acupuncture.
The treatment work also includes family and network-oriented work, as well as couple and family conversations.
The treatment conversations can be manual-based as well as more individually tailored. The majority of our treatment conversations take place individually, but we also offer group treatment in relapse prevention, treatment for gambling addiction, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
At the treatment unit, there are also two alcohol and drug therapists who offer group treatment according to AA's (Alcoholics Anonymous) twelve-step program.
The Treatment Unit also includes support for relatives, which offers advice and support conversations to relatives. The support for relatives offers advice and support conversations aimed at individuals, couples, and families. We regularly offer support groups for relatives.
We primarily work on behalf of social workers. In addition, we offer non-assistance assessed interventions in the form of RIK conversations, advisory, informative, and consultative conversations up to a maximum of five conversations, as well as treatment interventions without assistance assessment.
Collaboration with other internal and external actors occurs regularly, and you should have a good ability to cooperate.
The work includes documentation in the journal system with the establishment of an action plan that you create together with your client. Subsequent documentation and follow-up are also important parts of your work. All interventions are tailored to the individual's needs and conditions. Regardless of the intervention, our work is continuously evaluated.
We offer you a varied and exciting job with great opportunities to influence your workday.
The work as a treatment consultant is an important job where you can make a positive difference for the people of Karlstad. Together with your competent and friendly colleagues, you will also participate in operational planning, follow-up, and method development based on the National Board of Health and Welfare's national guidelines and research based on the needs of the operation.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a university degree such as a social work degree or another higher education/university education that the employer considers equivalent. It is advantageous if you have basic training in psychotherapy corresponding to step 1, preferably with a focus on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or family therapy based on systemic/interactionist principles. Experience in treatment work with individuals who have comorbidity in the form of dependency problems combined with psychiatric diagnoses is also an advantage.
We are now looking for someone with several years of experience in treatment work and documented experience from work with addiction and dependence issues. We would like you to be trained in and have worked with one or more of our manual-based programs, psychosocial treatment conversations, and have training in motivational interviewing (MI).
Documented experience of advice and support conversations with relatives and a family-oriented approach is also advantageous.
Important foundations for the work as a therapist are to have emotional stability and security in yourself.
Good communication and collaboration skills are also important, as well as the ability to take responsibility for structuring your work. You should also be able and willing to conduct treatment work both individually and together with a colleague in a group.
Interviews may take place continuously during the application period.
