The Adult Department is one of three departments within the Labor Market and Social Administration.

We work with individuals over 18 years old who have a mental disability and/or harmful use/dependency.

We have various types of operations spread geographically across Karlstad Municipality.

Housing with different focuses, read more below about the various focuses.

Job Responsibilities

The Adult Department is aimed at individuals with harmful use and dependency as well as individuals with mental disabilities.

The work involves irregular working hours and includes social documentation.

The schedule varies between units, some units do not apply night shifts.

The tasks within our housing and housing support differ. Below you can read more about what the work within the different operations entails.

Housing with special services within Social Psychiatry

Special housing within Social Psychiatry is aimed at adults with long-term mental disabilities who have a significant need for support in their daily lives. Our housing varies based on location and placement, but in all housing, residents have their own apartments with access to common areas for socializing. We believe that animals make a significant difference for all people. Pets may therefore be present as part of the therapeutic environment in our work to enhance the residents' comfort and well-being.

Job responsibilities include having a supportive, stimulating, and motivating approach to assist the resident with what they need help with in their daily lives, which may include personal care, assistance with showering/personal hygiene, etc. You will participate in the planning and execution of qualified and individually tailored support with the resident's perspective and needs in focus. You will also perform certain delegated health care tasks from a nurse.

The services we provide must maintain good quality based on the resident's own choices and priorities. We aim to enable the resident to have a good daily life and live a life like others.

Housing with special services/category housing within harmful use and dependency

The operation offers secure housing with the goal of achieving improved quality of life by reducing the consequences of addiction/dependency. The support is individually tailored to help the individual achieve a functioning daily life. The operation collaborates with a variety of internal and external actors.

Job responsibilities include providing individualized support with everything from cleaning, hygiene, cooking, support with daily structure, conversations, and personal care.

The work is individual-oriented and works with implementation plans, and you are responsible for ensuring they are followed. The work at the housing requires employees to create good relationships with residents and provide individualized support. It requires a good readiness to handle difficult and complex situations while maintaining a strong belief in people's ability to change and develop.

Housing Support Unit

We work relationally, motivating, and supporting the target group of social psychiatry and harmful use and dependency.

The housing support is tailored to the individual's situation and needs, and the individual is actively involved in their planning, culminating in an implementation plan.

You work to support the resident/client in maintaining their abilities and therefore work together with them rather than compensating for them primarily.

Housing support is primarily provided in the individual's home but can also be given outside the home. The starting point for the support is the resident/client's needs, so participation in planning and designing the intervention is central.

Job responsibilities may include authority contacts, daily structure, breaking isolation, and motivational work.

The goal of the operation is to create an improved living situation that leads to as independent a life as possible based on the individual's own conditions.

Qualifications

We prefer that you have a high school education, for example, a care program with a focus on psychiatry, treatment pedagogue/assistant, or are studying to become a social worker, psychologist, or another profession within the social sector. Experience with documentation and working within the social sector is considered advantageous.

You will work with people in vulnerable life situations, which requires personal suitability in meeting, responding to, and communicating with others. We are looking for someone who can independently plan and structure their work.

You are a calm, secure, and caring person who can meet varied situations with an adapted approach.

A driver's license (B) is a requirement within the Housing Support Unit and an advantage within the housing operations.

Our approximately 700 employees work with addiction care, financial assistance, budget and debt counseling, and family law issues.
