Work with Sámi Documentation at the National Archives

Do you want to work at a prestigious authority that is undergoing an exciting transformation to become a more innovative and outward-looking organization that can meet new expectations and demands?

The position is a temporary employment in the Nordic project 'Making Archives Accessible on Sámi Premises' (ASP), which is funded by the EU Interreg Aurora. The project is conducted in Sweden, Norway, and Finland. We are looking for two individuals for a 50% position based in Stockholm/Täby. The project will run from 2026 to 2028.

The role involves contributing to making Sámi documentation included in state archives more accessible. The work entails reviewing archives stored at the National Archives in Stockholm and Täby to identify Sámi documentation and propose appropriate labeling and description from a Sámi perspective and in the Sámi language. The final product will be improved digital archive inventories and a Nordic archive guide to Sámi archival material.

You will work independently but in close contact with the project management team and archivists on site. You will also communicate with project participants in Norway and Finland who are doing similar work and participate in meetings with the project's Sámi reference group.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Sámi language and cultural competence
  • Academic degree
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Work experience from the archive, museum, or library sector
  • Experience in conveying knowledge in a pedagogical manner

Personal qualities:

You can work independently and have good initiative. You have good collaboration skills and enjoy interacting with others. We place great importance on your personal suitability.

Employment conditions:

Employment type: Temporary employment from 2026 to 2028

Work percentage: Part-time

Workplace: Stockholm/Täby

Start date: By agreement

About the workplace

You will work directly under the project manager for the ASP project and be placed within the National Archives' department for archival activities.
