Description of the Organization

The libraries in Haninge create contexts for people to belong and participate in democracy, culture, and literature at the library and in the wider community. We work together for everyone's growth throughout life and provide opportunities for learning and co-creation.

The municipality has public libraries in Handen, Jordbro, Västerhaninge, and a smaller library on Ornö. In Brandbergen and Vega, there are integrated public and school libraries, and the municipality's book bus visits the public and institutions in various parts of Haninge.

Your Mission

We are now looking for a substitute librarian who will work full-time, dividing their time between Jordbro Library and Brandbergen Library.

Brandbergen Library is an integrated public and school library, located between Brandbergen's center and Brandberg School, and serves as a central meeting place focused on learning and culture for both students and the public.

Jordbro Library is located in the heart of Jordbro center - a natural meeting place for Jordbro residents - where the premises are shared with the youth center UNG137, and collaborations with local actors can take place for all ages.

In this role, you will be part of both libraries' working groups, participating in meetings and engaging in the daily work at each library. In this role, you will contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment for the libraries' visitors.

Since Brandbergen Library is an integrated school and public library, common tasks for both public and school libraries are included in the job responsibilities.

Work at the libraries' information desks is included, as well as administrative tasks. The role also includes shelving books, receiving class visits, leading activities for all ages, and staffing the café at Jordbro Library.

Your Qualifications and Skills

We are looking for someone who enjoys meeting people and has an interest in reading and cultural habits. You combine a professional approach with a sense of service and thrive on switching between interacting with people and administrative tasks. You also have the ability to manage multiple processes simultaneously.

You work independently, collaborate well, and communicate clearly. You express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written, as this is required in daily work. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

You have a university degree in library and information science or another education we consider equivalent for the position.

You have experience working in public, school, or high school libraries and preferably language skills beyond Swedish and English.

Additional Information

Evening and weekend work according to schedule is included in the position.

At the Libraries in Haninge, we use the library system Quria, which requires identification with bank ID or Freya.

The employment period is from March 1, 2026, or by agreement until December 31, 2026, with a possibility of extension.
