The Culture and Leisure Administration is responsible for the municipality's libraries, cultural school, sports halls, and sports facilities, open children and youth activities, grants to associations and study associations, cultural activities, Vårby library with Children's Art, Fullersta Gård, art purchases, and the distribution of scholarships and awards in sports and culture.

The library services consist of five public libraries located in different parts of the municipality and the digital library. The libraries offer all residents multifaceted library services of high quality throughout their lives. The libraries in Huddinge are both physical and virtual resources, collaborating in a local, regional, national, and global context.

Segeltorps and Vårby library with Children's Art is a unit consisting of two libraries located in two different local communities. Vårby library is situated in a high-rise area by Lake Mälaren in Vårby Gård, and it is a library with a well-visited integrated art pedagogical and exhibition activity. Segeltorps library is a smaller library that is also a more open library.

Job Description

We are looking for someone who, together with us, based on an ambitious operational idea and a development-oriented library program, wants to continue developing the work with and for adults. You will be part of a team of 9 employees at the Segeltorps and Vårby library with Children's Art and participate with them in the daily operations and the routines that it entails. Together with the unit manager and other staff, you will plan, manage, and develop the operations of the unit. We strive to make the services and offerings accessible to more and inexperienced visitors. We collaborate with other municipal operations as well as with civil society actors. The position includes all tasks typically found in a smaller public library.

This position is primarily located at Vårby library, a one-year temporary position with the possibility of extension, full-time, with start date according to agreement. Scheduled weekend and evening work is included.

Qualifications

You have a university degree in library and information science or other education and/or experience that the employer deems equivalent. We also see that you have a strong interest and experience in working in public libraries. Since Huddinge is a multilingual municipality, we value if you have language skills beyond Swedish and English, as well as an interest in working in an intercultural environment.

It is important for the position that you are relationship-building with good collaboration skills and a sense of service. You are also responsible and self-driven. You should also be able to handle periods of high workload.
