Archivist at Stockholm University Library

Stockholm University Library is a leading university library at the forefront of open science.

Do you want to combine expertise with practical archival work and simultaneously contribute to developing the archive and registry competence within the authority? Then this is the position for you! We are now looking for an archivist for the university's central archive and registry function. Most of your working hours will be allocated to three of the university's departments.

The position is located in the central archive and registry function, which is responsible for developing and managing Stockholm University's archive and registry operations. We work on creating common routines, processes, and governing documents, ensuring they are followed. We are responsible for making both physical and digital archives accessible and managing them. Approximately 12 people work within the function. Job Responsibilities

You will work as an archivist at three of the university's departments, according to a regular schedule, while also being involved in the central operations.

As an archivist, you will be responsible for establishing, documenting, and implementing archiving processes at the departments - for both analog and electronic materials. Some work with registering documents in the diary system will occur.

You will also need to pedagogically support and educate others within the authority in archiving and registering documents. You are the expert in archival work at the department with backing from the central archive function. You will have the role of archive caretaker at the departments, which is defined, among other things, according to the handling order for the archive and registry organization (https://medarbetare.su.se/vart-su/styrning/regelboken/arkivering-och-diarieforing/handlaggningsordning-for-arkiv--och-registraturorganisationen).

You will also regularly work on responding to inquiries and retrieving documents from the central archives.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained archivist with several years of experience, preferably from the higher education or university sector or another larger public organization. You have a strong interest in service and enjoy varied tasks within both physical and digital archives.

You are self-driven, structured, and have an easy time collaborating. You have a good ability to plan your work and take responsibility for its execution. You are solution-oriented and are happy to share your knowledge. You need to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work at different physical workplaces on campus.

Requirements:

  • academic degree with at least two semesters of archival science or similar education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • several years of experience in archival operations within the higher education and university sector or another larger public organization
  • good general IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.

Meritorious:

  • experience in registry work
  • experience in handling inquiries and disclosing public documents
  • experience with the systems Visual Arkiv and W3D3
  • experience in some form of educational activity or assignment.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

About the Employment

The position is permanent full-time with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. The earliest start date is April 1, by agreement.
