Preparedness Coordinator at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency is the leading, directing, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crises, heightened readiness, and war.

Do you want to make a difference and work with us for a safer society? Then you might be our next colleague!

You will be part of the team at the Management Staff's unit for direction and planning of the agency's preparedness.

The unit is responsible for development, planning, coordination, and governance of the agency's preparatory planning and capability development.

Your Responsibilities and Tasks

Together with colleagues, you will have a coordinating responsibility for the agency's preparedness planning. The role includes working with preparatory planning and capability development within the agency, with a particular focus on continuity planning.

Your task will be to contribute to strengthening the agency's ability to withstand threats and risks and to carry out its tasks during crises and ultimately war.

Your tasks include:

  • driving the work with continuity management at an overarching level in the agency
  • supporting other departments/units in their work with continuity management
  • conducting impact analyses, risk assessments, and following up on measures
  • being responsible for and supporting others in the development of continuity plans and preparedness plans
  • preparing prioritization materials for development projects and capability development within the agency
  • supporting the Management Staff's own preparedness planning

The work will be conducted in collaboration with other departments within the agency.

Your Knowledge and Competencies

We are looking for someone who has:

  • an academic degree or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • work experience in total defense and/or crisis preparedness within public operations or from larger companies/operations
  • work experience in continuity management and/or preparedness planning

It is advantageous if you have:

  • worked in a security-sensitive operation where high security protection requirements are imposed
  • training in continuity management

In all our work, both internally and externally, we must act based on the state value framework. Like all employees and leaders with us, you are expected to act according to the agency's approach.

The approaches apply in everyday life, crises, and war. They should be seen as a whole and build on each other; collaborative – proactive - action-oriented.

To succeed in the role of preparedness coordinator, you need to be secure and stable in your professional role, have a high degree of loyalty, and enjoy working independently with significant responsibility.

About the Employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period.

Your place of employment will be in Stockholm, and travel may occur as part of the job.

The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. When placed in a security class, a security review with background checks will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are designated for military service.

About Us

At the Unit for Direction and Planning of the Agency's Preparedness, we are about five people.

We have an activity-based office where you can choose your workplace according to your needs.

All of us working at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are expected to contribute to increased equality and equal treatment for a work environment and a society free from discrimination.
