Uppvidinge Municipality operates short-term accommodation for children and young people in Åseda and now needs to strengthen the staff group with a person who works afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
The short-term accommodation is located in Åseda and is beautifully situated, close to illuminated trails and forests where you can spend time outdoors with the children and do activities together. The facility is newly built and adapted to run LSS operations. The work involves providing children and young people with a safe and meaningful stay where they can develop their abilities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The job as a support assistant requires that you have knowledge of different functional variations and what it means to have an intellectual disability. It is important that you have clear, pedagogical, and simple communication. Furthermore, it is important that you are attentive, responsible, and secure in yourself. Being able to act with a low-arousal approach is essential. You need to be able to work both in a group and alone. Care work and hygiene routines are included in the job, as well as performing delegated tasks such as tube feeding. To function and thrive in the job, you need to communicate and collaborate with other staff and guardians, but also have the ability to plan and structure the day and document in the journal system. The operation is open according to the families' needs, which means that stay times may vary. The schedule varies based on the needs of the youth, especially during holidays and breaks.
QUALIFICATIONS
It is desirable that you have education in, for example, social pedagogy, special pedagogy, leisure pedagogy, or that you are a trained nursing assistant, child caregiver, or have other relevant education. It is also required that you have good computer skills and can handle the most common digital tools such as Outlook, Teams, and document in the journal system. It is also important to master the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
A driver's license is a requirement.
It is suitable if you have experience working with children and young people with disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and/or NPF issues.
To manage the job and thrive in your role, it is important that you have the ability to set firm boundaries and maintain established routines. It is an advantage if you have experience with sign language and visual support. If you have experience in cooking, enjoy cooking, have engaged in pedagogical cooking or nutrition and health, that is a plus. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
OTHER
If you become a candidate for employment, the employer will request an extract from the criminal record. The municipal council has decided that all new hires must present a criminal record extract before employment. The extract to be presented is the one for work within schools or preschools.
