Treatment Assistant at SiS Youth Home Margretelund

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse. SiS Youth Home Margretelund receives non-compulsory school-age girls and boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. We operate in Lidköping and near Falköping.

Job Description

We are looking for treatment assistants for our MBB (Reception and Needs Assessment) departments Täppan and Videbeck, targeting boys. Do you want to help create the vital difference for vulnerable individuals? Then the job as a treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your role is to motivate our youth/clients to new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that the routines in the department function as they should. You play a significant role in the stability and safety of our youth/clients and are responsible for the basics of daily life such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, etc. You help maintain order and safety in the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building secure relationships and contribute to ensuring that our youth/clients receive the safety and security they need to break old habits. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

The working hours are according to a schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS introductory training.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformations. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a strong positive view of humanity, great empathy, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.

Requirements:

  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.
  • Driver's license B
  • Good Swedish in speech and writing

Meritorious:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry, HVB, or LSS care
  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., correctional officer
  • Experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse care, youth care, etc.)

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
