Backa short-term care home is now looking for a new support educator who is passionate about working with children and young people!

With us, children and young people with neuropsychiatric disabilities and challenging issues stay.

The children have extensive needs for pedagogical support and personal care. They stay here for periods and usually come after school or leisure activities or during a weekend. The extent is determined by the decisions made by the authorities. The operation should serve as a relief for our guests' relatives, but also aims to provide guests with a stimulating and restful stay.

You will be part of a team with support assistants, a unit manager, and another support educator. Much collaboration also takes place with other professionals and relatives. In the role of support educator, you support our guests in their daily lives, among other things by providing support in everyday tasks, managing medication according to self-care, and method-guiding colleagues in direct work. Furthermore, you are jointly responsible with your support educator colleague for the process concerning documentation, method, and quality development in the unit together with the unit manager. You will be part of a network with other support educators and method developers. We place great importance on you as a support educator having a close operational focus in your work and guiding in direct work based on evidence-based methods.

Working hours are scheduled during the day, evening, and every other weekend.

Qualifications

For the position of support educator, post-secondary specialization in the disability field is required, which includes at least 200 YH credits, 120 university credits, or 60 university credits with two years of work experience with people with disabilities. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.

If you do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1, you may be offered to take a language test through the testing user Educateit.

It is a requirement that you have previous experience working as a support educator. You should also have worked with neuropsychiatric disabilities and outwardly aggressive behavior.

It is also a requirement that you have experience with AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication), TAKK (Signs as Alternative and Augmentative Communication), and LAB (Low-Arousal Approach).

You are motivated by clearly defined goals and have the ability to translate these into concrete actions. At the same time, you are a clear and good communicator who gets heard for thoughts and ideas and can influence decisions in a certain direction.

You have the ability to work together with others to perform tasks and achieve goals. By being interested and creating understanding for others, you contribute to a respectful work climate. You act independently based on what the situation requires without needing support from others. You have the ability to make independent decisions within the framework of your assignment.
