The Workplace

The Social Administration in Karlsborg is responsible for elderly care, care for people with disabilities, municipal health care, and individual and family care. The administration has about 250 employees. We work with a user-oriented approach where the work is guided by the needs of the users. The Social Administration in Karlsborg Municipality operates based on a common ethical value base that focuses on respect, response, and self-determination.

The disability services carry out all the interventions regulated by LSS (the Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons), which includes special housing and daily activities. The main task of the service is to promote equality in living conditions and full participation in community life for people with disabilities.

Job Responsibilities

We are now hiring a support educator for a group home, following a colleague's decision to move on to another job. As a support educator, you will be part of a work team and will be scheduled according to the needs of the operation, with evening and weekend shifts occurring.

You will be part of a network together with 2 other support educators within the operational area, where you, together with your unit manager, plan and drive quality work forward within the operational area. In your role, you will support, plan, guide, and inspire your colleagues in the pedagogical work and develop the work in the organization in collaboration with the manager and colleagues. The position offers a developing and challenging job with significant responsibility to independently drive processes and issues forward, with the support of the unit manager and other support educators in the network.

You will be responsible for developing social documentation, implementation plans, and pedagogical development work at both the individual and group levels, where the users' participation and needs are in focus. You will support users in their daily lives by creating a predictable, manageable, and understandable existence and provide professional support by empowering the user in their daily life and creating conditions for development and an independent life. All work is based on the individually established implementation plan of the user.

We are now filling the position of support educator at the group home Boken, but the role of support educator includes supporting all unit employees in their assignments within the LSS area.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with post-secondary specialization in the disability field with a pedagogical focus that includes at least 200 YH points or 60 higher education credits, or a combination thereof that corresponds to at least two semesters of full-time studies.

You are secure and stable in yourself and in your professional role and have good self-awareness. You have the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide colleagues within the organization for a joint active effort with participation centered around the needs of the users. It is required that you have good communication skills, both spoken and written, in the Swedish language.

You are calm, responsible, proactive, and self-driven with a good ability to lead, coach, and support colleagues. You also need to have a strong commitment and passion for your work, as well as the ability to responsibly implement decisions and agreements. Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, low-arousal approaches, and clear pedagogical methods are advantageous. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

As a support educator, you should apply an ethical approach that promotes the individual's self-determination, integrity, and participation.
